Wakeboarding Behind A Jet Ski?

I'm desperate to ride these days. What do you need to ride behind a jet ski? A friend of mine has one but says he has nowhere to put the rope, and he's not a wakeboarder, anyways. Do jet ski's need a pylon or what? I've never even been on one, so I don't even know where to begin.

We've done it plenty of times (as well as wakeskating). If he doesn't have a proper ski hook, you can use the hook that's used when strapping the ski to the trailer (as long as the hook is above the water). If he doesn't have one of those, or if the hook is below the water line, you might be stuck without adding some kind of pylon. REMEMBER if it's a two person jetski, you can only have a rider and a driver. You can not have a rider, passenger, and a driver. The game warden (or whatever water-police you have) will pull you over. Also remember you need to have mirrors on your ski. If you don't have two, I believe you need to have one that's 4" by 6". Hope that helps.

I actually made a pylon to replace the normal "hole" on the rear of our old WaveRunner but it was not necessary. Go take a look at the ski and formulate a plan, I am sure there is someway to connect the rope. If you can't figure anything out, post some photos and maybe someone here can help.

Yes, also read the rules carefully, we got a ticket for no mirrors. In interest of full disclosure, I knew the rules but took my chances. :-) Would have been cheaper to add the mirrors before the ticket instead of after.

Wakeboarding off a jetsam is great for mobility on rail riding, and fun for hitting other boat wakes, have fun on the water!!!

^And thats about all its good for. Dont worry about adding any extra weight to the ski, or extending a pylon, because its only going to take you from 0 to 0.0. Be aware of what to expect riding behind it (a fun set of buttering, ollies, and hitting rollers) and you'll have a great time. Expect a wake and you might get a little sad. Have fun!
