Any of you Colorado guys have any place to get the best price on lift tickets. Going to Keystone/Breck, skiing Feb. 19-21. Looking for 3 day tickets. Best I've seen so far is $242. Thanks for the help!

We get no special deals. Skiing is damn expensive.

If you know anyone in the military they can buy them on the base for cheaper

kstateskier 01-25-2010 2:51 PM

Andy, you've got that right. I don't know how I ever afforded it in my college days!

I quit skiing years ago because of the costs. And the fact that a 60 mile drive home can take up to 5 hours because of all the cars on weekends. Sux

Nick I always buy mine at Christy's Sports in Denver. They're on the South side right off of I70 on West Colfax Ave in Lakewood. They were always $30-$50 cheaper than buying them once you were in the mountains.

Got any friends with the epic pass? I usually know someone or can find someone when I get there and work a deal for one of their "buddy" passes.

I have (three) buy one get one free lift tickets for Copper and Winter Park that you can have but it's not for the resorts you need.

The best place is to buy Breck tickets is online 7-day advance. No one in SUmmit COunty is allowed to sell deals. Trust me. I go to Breck every year.

If you were coming for a longer stay you could buy the A basin bonus pass.

http://www.arapahoebasin.com/ABasin/tickets/season-passes.aspx

Keystone and Breck are my least favorite Summit Co. areas. Lot's more deals at Copper/Winterpark or Loveland. Check out craigs list in Denver for tons of tickets.

Check out the Gold C coupon books - they usually have a 2 for 1 ticket special in there for all the resorts.

I worked at Monarch, Aspen, Crested Butte, Steamboat, and Snowbird for a couple years each as a "lifty" or lift operator. I can tell you the cheapest way to get a lift ticket is to get there really, really early and offer to dig out the counter weight for lift operators in exchange for a pass. Another route for multiple day passes is to find the bus driver for the shuttle. Offer to dig out his bus in the morning. That guy usually has more passes than you can shake a stick at. People who buy multiple day passes and are pooped early often give away their passes to the bus driver.

I worked on the Colorado Tramway Board as an inspector for a year too. Almost everyone who works at the resort has passes. If you offer to do their work for them, they will trade you tickets. The same goes for gear, they are always trading/selling/buying gear, if you have something worth trading they will trade you passes.

BTW, Monarch is the best value in Colorado skiing, the snowcat trips are awesome and rival heli-skiing for 1/4 the price. You can also ski the backside at Monarch if you pre-arrange a guide (usually off-duty ski patrol) and set up the horse ride out the highway. Those are the Best way to make fresh tracks in Colorado!

(Message edited by wakeboardsam on January 27, 2010)
