- - Difference between NVS 1010 And Tyrant? (http://www.wakeworld.com/forum/showthread.php?t=285424)

Just curious there is a 100 dollar difference between these tower speakers, they look identical. Is there a difference in loudness or sound quality?

The 1010 has a separate horn loaded tweeter between the 2 10" drivers. The Tyrant uses 2 Addictions fused together - each tweeter and main driver are 1 unit ("NVS Pro Coax").

Tyrant uses one Addiction and one raw driver. The 1010 is a lil brighter sounding.

FYI,
Chas has it right. The goal of the Tyrant was to maintain as much performance as possible, yet reduce size and weight as compared to the Entity. So, the Tyrant has a bit smoother sound then the Entity and about 3-4 lbs less weight per module. Oh, and about 5 inches less tower width per module.
I'm in the process of assemblying a double Addiction into the Tyrant assembly. This is an obvious product for some and will be the new highest performing tower speaker product on the planet, but will weigh some 40 lbs each....not for the weak. I'll probably run a set of these or Tyrants for the WSSR if you're interested in checking them out.
