I have always thought the dog was cute, now you see how much time you take with him. Great job Joe!

Very cute Joe! What a great job you have done with him.

I never thought little dogs could be so smart

dakid 05-09-2010 5:43 PM

thanks y'all. i have spent quite some time w/ moby, but in reality, he learned a lot of the commands in a relatively short amount of time. what took the longest, believe it or not, was the "high 5", as he was confusing it w/ "shake" and "stay" (hand) command.

i can't wait to sign him up for agility courses, but i need to research the courses in this area first, to see which one seems to have better training.

benjamin, moby is a papillon/havanese mix. havanese is considered a very smart toy breed. as for the papillon, it's the 8th smartest breed in the world.

What a cutey!

Joe, I have my last of 7 intro-to-agility classes tonight. Its been a blast. Its amazing how my pup gets fired up to do it. Last week, Diamond was running the ramp, doing jumps, blasting the tunnel and jumping through the hoop like a pro. I think you would have a similar experience with Moby. Get into a class!

How does one embed a video like you did Joe? I am searching for help on this but not finding it.

dane, look for an option (near the vid) to embed. it should look something like this:

Let me try. Here's a video of my puppy doing tricks at 4 months of age. They are a bit different from Moby's. We will have to give those a try!

that's awesome dane! you need to make a video of how you trained her to do the "figure-8" and the "come around". i want to teach moby those tricks.

moby knows how to kiss, too. also, both my dogs only take treats from my left hand, not my right. if i have the treat in my right hand and try to give it to them, they either back up or look away. once they see me switch it to my left hand, they're all over it! :)

Joe, its pretty easy if your dog is treat motivated. Just ask him to follow the treat to start. Soon, you won't need the treat.
