Gopro Feeding A Bass Fish at our lake home

You got to check out the video footage I shot just the other day from our Dock with the GOPro. The last two years this Bass has laid her eggs on our ladder off our dock. My daughters have named her "Swimmy" and they can almost pet her under water. It will brush up against there feet as they dangle off the dock. It is not afraid of much.

Enjoy.

Cool footage. How did you track where the fish was?

The funny thing was I spent so much time watching this fish and trying to get good footage of her that I had her route dialed somewhat. It seemed to circle and I was hanging myself over the docks edge so could see a glimps her once in a while. I had the camera on a wakeboard rope attached to the Gopro housing, but most of the time my hand was in the water holding the camera. The water this time of the year is kinda cold after a while.

OVER 400 HITS ON YOUTUBE.....WOW.

Hey thanks guys, My daughters thinks this is the best thing ever to have their fish on YouTube and it getting all the hits that it is getting. Thanks for checking it out. I nevery knew that so many people would like it.

691 Hits on my youtube. Unfortunately I think the bass is gone for good. I haven't see her for two weeks. The eggs are gone and I think a fishermen must of caught her and some other fish ate the eggs. My girls are thinking she is just hiding.

As an avid bass fisherman, what has probably happened is she has transitioned to "post spawn" mode where the bass transition to nearby deep creek channel or river channel ledges to find spawning shad and other forage to prey on. After a bass has laid eggs, they stay on "bed" for a while guarding the eggs (normally). It sounds like your bass isn't the sharpest crayon in the box when it comes to spawning. She should be laying the eggs in a bed on the lake's mud/sand/rock bottom. This bed is dug out by the male and female bass with their tale fin. Often times I catch spring bass with bloody tales, letting me know they are on bed. Both male and female, sometimes male only will stay to guard the bed from crayfish, bluegill, etc. while the eggs mature and hatch. Once they hatch, the males stay and guard the small baby bass (fry).

If you want bass to hang out at your dock, try to find live crawfish and dump them around your dock once a week.

Thanks for all the info. Not a fishermen so the info really helped. I have a couple crayfish traps and I plan on going to the rocky shores of the lake and trapping some to bring back to our dock. Thanks again for the advice.

Awesome video. As an avid fisherman as well, I definitely dug the go pro footage.

Chuch. What kind of fish is this? My Brother in law caught this off the dock too.

I think it is some sort of a sucker fish, but I don't know fish. It was a a big one. He lost an even bigger one that snapped his line earlier that day.
