I need your opinions. I am riding a 140 absolute. I am 6 foot 6 inshes tall and weigh 230 pounds. Should i get a longer board such as a 143 or would I even notice the extra 3 cm? I used to ride a 143 vero and seemingly had better luck with grabs and other tricks. my imagination?

I ride a Balance 144 and am trying to pull the trigger on a 147 Era. I say ride the bigger board. I'm 6'5 and 245lbs, and coming from a CWB Pure 141, the 144 "feels" a lot more stable and bigger in the water and on landings.

I say go for it.

how do you like the balance?

I'm 6'2", 220 and ride a LF Balance 143. Do they make a Balance 144?

I had LF Trip (stolen). For me the difference between the Trip and the Balance was night and day, my jumps are much longer and higher.

My friend is a bit smaller and has a Trip 138. He rode my balance and had a terrible set.

For me the Balance is awesome, but not for my friend.
Just ride what you like. I'm 6'1" and 190lbs and ride a 145.

Agreed. Ride what you feel comfortable with. Demo as many as you can, and go with the one you like. Iam 6'3" and 245, and I ride a CWB Transcend. It is a loittle slow, but has a good explosive pop off of the wake. The Transcend seems a little bit wider thatn most other boards, so it handles a little sluggish until you drive up the wake. It also lands pretty soft (real important for us big people).

My usual contribution to big guy posts. I'm 6"4' and weigh 250. I ride a Hyperlite Motive 144, and love it.

So the question remains...dow 3-4 cm really make a difference (no punn intended)???

sjmedic 07-10-2005 6:33 PM

That depends....ride them and find out for yourself. Some people say Yes...and some say No.

sjmedic 07-10-2005 6:35 PM

PS...I say yes...3-4 CM makes a difference, but I find that WIDTH of the board makes all the difference in the world. Measure the Transcend to the Motive...there is about 1-2" overall width difference.

tparider 07-11-2005 6:56 AM

I say yes to that too. The width is really the key, but I can definitely notice 3-4 cm in length as well...
6'5" 245 I ride a Parks 143. My only problem that I have is when I come down off a double up I sink the board and end up losing it. I guess it depends where I land though. Being bigger do you guys prefer 3 stage or continuous rocker? Edging seemed easier on my continuous, but I haven't road that in a couple years. Shore riding. yeah take that.

I would say size does matter as a big guy. I used to ride a 135 Best forever, that does'nt mean I would ride it now. Go as big as you can. The bigger and heavier you are the more the board sits down in the word, changing the way it rides.I would suggest the motive 144, Era 147, Balance 144, Parks 144, LF(147 something). Best thing to do is demo them though!
