Looking at renting a housboat at Shasta for a week in early October. What Air/Water temperatures might we expect? Will it be good?

fscaife, I hear September, October at Shasta are epic.

Anyone actually been there around this time? Any locals?

We went the middle of Sept. last year. It was awesome. 100 degrees out the water was 76 and nobody there.

i heading up to shasta in july, does anyone know what the patroling is like when its dark, like an hour after sunset. how hard do they crack down on the night riding

I don't know about now, but several years ago they were pretty anal about riding at night. Some friends got a ticket for riding past sunset and it was still dusk...not completely dark yet.

Last year the cops were waiting in our cove for like half an hour and then one minute past sunset, the lights came on and everyone was told to stop riding. No tickets but still pretty anal.

I have had a similar experience with them patrolling and shutting you down as soon as the sun sets, but before it is even dark.

On another note I was there in late Sept. last year and it was totally awsome. The average hi in October should still be in the 80's and water near 70's.
Yes I would definitely say that Shasta in September is epic, and I'm sure that October would be the same.
