Spring Build More Wetsounds!!!
3 Attachment(s)
a few rev10s firing through the deck of the x80. should have the grills built in the next few weeks and she will be ready to rock!
Good lord. 6 on the tower wasn't enough? You needed 2 more so badly you cut giant, non symmetrical, crooked holes in the transom of your boat?
That is definitely a commitment for sure. |

my installs are usually pretty clean

Once again more awesomeness

Please post more pics of the x80!

Is it me or is this going to be a huge problem when you board. Go to shut down and the wave is going to fill the boat with water. there is no way I would ever cut huge holes in the back of any boat that low! I hope that I'm wrong and it works out, not for me, and I love a good loud Stereo.
The bottom of the cut out is a good foot above the water line. With 1k lbs of ballast and 3 dudes on the platform with 100 gallons of fuel in the boat, not mention the 1000 lbs of batteries in the center ski locker I've yet to have water over the swim platform. Should be pretty safe

That's ( 6 ) wetsounds xxx with 1200 watts going to each one
Dammmmmmm< That thing is Throwing some Bassss! The side of your boat seems like its working like a guitar and amplifying your sound. Good job my friend your doing it right!
No yeti's? Not impressed! Haha jk! That thing is sick. I'm going to make a trip to hear it!

Only 6? That's an awful big boat...you've got room for at least 4 more..... |
Cripes! After seeing all the pics, I assumed the "spring build" would be all about the rear suspension springs being replaced in that Chevy after towing that beast! Is that a half ton or is that lead in those vodka boxes?

Nope she's a 2016 2500 HD Denali Duramax. Has a 12 inch lift and American force 24x14s on 40 inch Toyos. X80 is a heavy beast and squats the truck for sure. I think it's more the angle of the truck and boat in the pic than anything. One of these days when I can afford 6 wheels and tires I'll get a one ton |

GOOD LORD you got some money in your set up (truck and Boat). Both look real clean though.

G23 will wash over the sunpad too when loaded down and you come off plan to fast.
Ok so the more I look at this, the more I think about this old thread. I really hope that this does not ever happen to your beautiful boat.

Or wire 2 of these on a float switch in the hull.....https://www.wakemakers.com/ronix-eig...-3700-gph.html
Or cover those holes with billet metal covers, and pretend you didn't just cut 2 giant holes in your transom/motor cover
Should have just used regular coaxial speakers and mounted them outside the fiberglass like Epic does. Not only is water going to get into your boat, but the water might damage the speakers too.

I'm also a little concerned about water and debris getting down the throat of the horn and into the tweeter compression chamber or down the voice coil gap of the midbass driver. There's nothing marinized about the inside of a tower speaker.
But if you test it on the water and it passes then it's no more than a concern. |

guys when you're not running any ballast, water doesn't go anywhere. He mentioned 1000 lbs of batteries and 1000 lbs of ballast and some fuel. I'm guessing it would take several thousand more pounds to make a decent wave/wake. It a booze cruiser with a sound system. Probably no board racks, need the room for speakers.
I would at least save the pieces that were cut out just in case those speakers end up getting waterboarded.

I would at least create some custom enclosures that you can attach the speakers to that will seal to both the boats fiberglass and around the cone of the speaker. But like others stated above, I would have went with regular coax speakers on this build and not REV 10's. But then again I wouldn't have cut up my boat in the first place as the stereo isn't imperative to me. |
good question!! No idea!!
Lol you guys, these revs will be in a enclosure, the pic i posted was a simple hole we cut. We are fully fiber glassing the pockets in the rear and mounting the revs inside. The enclosure will have about a 7-10 degree down slope, so if water does fill/get in the cavity it will simply drain out the drain holes external of the transom.
This boat is just a hobby boat. Stereo hobby. No competition, just personal pleasure.
And they will have billet covers/grilles. Looking for a factory style look
As fare as sinking x80s been there done that. No fun http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...309bdd7afe.jpg
I like the idea of the slight downward angle. I like the idea of the panels or enclosures completely sealing the Rev10s off from the engine compartment. The transom Rev10s will have a more robust sound versus a single pair on the tower. It will be like taking home speakers from the middle of the room and backing them up against the wall.
If a boat ever needed a DSP processor this one is definitely it. For example, the tower speakers will propagate 10kHz 100 times before they reach the same plane as the transom speakers. |
That's out of my audio hands. If I knew someone that could hook me up id have one.
That's my old 80, a 750 in the port rear seat, another 750 in the bow port side with the factory 500 port tank full. No a impressive surf wake but does the job. We actually couldn't tell the difference between all the weight and no none
I have to ask how did your old
One sink? |
Quote:
He cut holes in the transom for some Rev10s lol |
The muffler had a crack in the fiberglass on the bottom side and I didn't know it. Slowly leaked in but was coming in on the port side muffler. Bilge pump was on the starboard side in the aft. Stringers kept the water from transferring. So it slowly filled the port side of the boat until it sunk
^^^Wow! That's some mastercraft engineering genius there. Maybe that's what happened to Lon's boat too..... Sorry that happened to you.
Wow!
Looks good what did you use for material for the Grill frame do you have any pics of the grill in the making. I'm interested in how the compound radius was done

Not the exact one but built in the same way. Then just use heat and mold the shape and a lot of sanding! Thanks
^^^It looks like Abs plastic. But it also looks like it's sew'n together? What and I looking at?
It is abs and the inside strip is glued and stapled the. Just fiberglass over
I'd really like to see what is behind the grill. Looks well finished.
Is there a drain in there or is the water going to pool?
^^^That's what I've been wondering.
Ok staples! That makes sense. I was confused it looked like from the photos it was needle and thread holding the 2 together. I never thought of using a staple gun but it's a great Idea to add some initial strength or support. I could see using a ABS cement to melt the 2 together. I got a plastic welder as a gift and have been having fun with it. The other day just for practice I plastic welded 2 buckets together. Works amazing
