I was measuring my Trick Boardz Surf Skate and watching Dennis surf on his 6'2"...realizing that his 260 pound frame only needed...maybe a 5'0" with about 3" of thickness. So I made this surfboard(?) 3'4" LOA, 16.5" max width, 2.25" rocker. To give you some perspective of it's size, two pic's.

Think it'll work or just suck out loud?

Jeff,
The mind is an awful thing to waste. Maybe we'll try it out this weekend while your gone. Don't know if my wake would be big enough. Just kidding. That could be alot of fun or not.

Dennis, you are so not helpful! Besides I'm taking it with me, it'll fit in my carry-on.

Watching you ride was the inspiration for this board. As you know we disregarded eveyone's recommendation for a 7' board and made yours at 6'2" and THAT turned out to be more than you needed.

This little devil is about the size of a wakeskate, a little larger than Larry Mann's Surf Skate (which is the smallest wakesurfer on the market) and I'm betting it turns very quickly.

dennish 09-14-2005 5:59 PM

jeff,
Speaking of small boards. What if my smaller board was just your current board on steroids. Longer, wider and thicker. What do you think? I can get a blank that I could use part and you could shape a couple of mini-me's out of the rest.

09-14-2005 7:39 PM

No waste, huh? You are a production man after an accountant's heart. I want to see how this board rides, but I do believe that we can reduce your board...at least such that it fits INSIDE the boat. Realistically I'm thinking 5' to 5'2"; 22'ish max width and 3" thick. Maybe a round tail.

What design elements do you see?

dennish 09-14-2005 8:16 PM

As a production man and an accountant zero waste would make sense. Why wouldn't the design of the board you currently ride work in a larger size? No sense redesigning the wheel. We both know how well it works.

Oh are you talking about the 4'2"? I'll trace it on butcher paper and expand it to around a 5'0". Thanks for the compliment, Dennis. Notice I refrained from any clothing references in this thread.

dennish 09-15-2005 9:55 AM

I get it just say nice things and you will let my past transgressions slip by. The mini-me would have to be 8" thick for this big body to ride. I would think that the 4'2" on steroids would be a great starting point. Man you get up early.

Hey Dennis, I'm in FL roufhing it I was thinking about laminating 4 blanks together, 12" thick by 36" long. What'cha think? I have the concept of my board ragin' roughed out. I'll order blanks when I return. Went by a cable park downhere, just off the toll road..guess what I saw about 1/2 mile from it? Big ass alligator! Don't fall around here!
Jeff,
I found a good use for the banana board. It works as a family board. This picture is Drake and I riding behind my Sanger with only stock ballast on the driver side. About 320 lbs total and no problem staying in the pocket. Hope FL goes well.

09-16-2005 12:04 PM

Dennis, that is sick! How did you and Drake get up? Did the boy enjoy it and did you ride for 3 hours w/o falling?

dennish 09-16-2005 4:09 PM

Jeff, Got up the regular way not really a problem at all. rode for till he got cold about 5 min or so then I set him on the nose and rode a little bit.

09-17-2005 8:40 AM

Dennis, sick picture...did the boy hang ten? He'd have enough "wave" on the tail of the board to keep him locked in!

Nice wave with so little weight. In one of our videos, we showed Mark Ruck surfing behind an Air Sanger. I don't know how much ballast but the wake was awesome.

http://209.242.151.8/boardz/Ruck_03_PC_256Kbps.wmv
