My boat: 2014 axis a24 with the Ls3, wetsounds (I get a new one usually every spring if anyone's interested it's up for sale in august!)
Occupation: litigation specialist paralegal
Vehicle: 2003 F250 7.3 (old but paid for !)

I work in subrogation/insurance recoveries. Basically I am an insurance adjuster but we handle larger files and recoveries than adjusters and work with attorneys who pursue if they go to litigation. I am also a veteran and thankfully get a little money on the side from old Uncle Sam from service injuries. I work hard for my toys though! My boats other than my old 210 haven't been paid for but I've had several knee and other issues and likely don't have more than 5-10 years of this left.

Still a slave for my 70 year old father 23 years later who I'm pretty sure is never going to retire. But he is as good of a pops as son could ever ask for so I'm fine with it. We do HVAC work in Houston and I own a 2000 master craft sportstar. Super reliable boat and plenty of wake for me when sacked out. I have a hot 40 year old wife that has put up with me for 13 years and given me 2 beautiful kids. No bills and no problems. Life is good.

Degrees now a days don't mean ****. Have a few friends who work on the oil rigs and they buy homes like I buy shoes. Education isn't what it used to be. Also have a bud who's in real estate, another one who has a roofing company ect ect... all make stiller cash.

Absolutely agree^^^. I've got a bachelor's for broadcast communications with a minor in public relations and couldn't find a job that paid worth a damn when I graduated college. Swallowed my pride and went to work in the oil field and now make a ridiculous salary to pretty much sit around all day and do almost nothing. Had I known back then what I know now, I never would've wasted the time and money on going to college. It's really only worth it if you plan on going to be an engineer or doctor of some sort.

Jmorlan 07-07-2014 6:49 AM

I wasn't really serious.
I guess no one caught the "collage" part.

jhmeg2 07-07-2014 11:57 AM

Well, I'm a total noob here, and to the water for the most part. I just turned 35 at the end of June. I was in the Marine Corps for 8 1/2 years. Injured my back and a few other things.Got Divorced right before I got out. After I got out I met a woman with two kids. We were together a little over two years, and things ended badly. Really bad. I won't go into it but it was bad and I lost. Then with another woman for almost 5 years. She was stealing from me and didnt work. SHES GONE!!!! I am now with a wonderful woman with two kids. Shes an LPN about to get RN. I am a semi retired disabled Vet on a fixed income so money is tight. Well the boat world came to me somewhat by accident. She tried to help out her cousin who needed money for a wool splitter, and was selling his boat. She wanted a boat because she lived on a lake. Well she was going to buy the house she was renting. Then the owner told her when her lease is up shes out unless she buys it, then jacked up the price. So she is moving in with me. The boat she bought is a 1974 Thompson 17" with a 120 HP I/O stringer drive. The boat sat for about three years and we fount out latter was not winterized. She put a new head on it, new battery, ancher, ropes and all that jazz. The first time we took it out, changing out kids on the tube, it wouldn't start. So we flagged someone down threw out the extra line I told her we should buy ( that she asked why do we need more rope), I got it on the trailer by hand myself. She can't back up a trailer... So she still wanted a boat now. so we went shopping and I talked to a few friends and other people about it. We... I mean I, ended up buying a 2005 18" Four Winns. I have wake boarded a couple times about 5-7 years ago I.m not good, but I can get up and jump a wake (like three feet out of the water LOL) But I don't need anything fancy, just looking to have some fun. We tow it now with her Navigator. She drives a "94 Z28 convertable, Hers are paid for in cash. I have an '07 Mercedes E350, (could have paid cash at the time, but chose to improve my credit after my ex) so I have a payment on that, I also have an '03 Trailblazer I bought 11 months old (paid cash). I used to be an audio competitor, so the truck has a lot of mods, 6"lift on 35"s, I built a custom bumper and skid plates. It sits now until I can rebuild the transmission, then I may use it to tow. bought a 2000 Tundra, but had it three months and totaled it (long story there). I've got a CRX I have been working on for a few years, who knows if it will ever get done. Either way, Hello. If this is in the wrong thread a mod can move it,.

Glad to hear you're doing better, thank you for your service in the military.

I have been looking for a set of those OEM wheels and cannot find any for the life of me!

Prepared to be put to shame... 24yrs old, spent 6 yrs in college (2 and a university that set me back 14k alone but did end up with 2 degrees) just started my career, getting married next summer, $3k saved up so far, fiance still has 1.5yrs of school, still live an apartment, no boat, car with 185,000 miles. Look out world here I come.

Feel better?

College is overrated. My wife has a masters for dietetics and makes 17$ an hour. My first year teachers salary was basically 6$ hour higher.

College rules!!! Best 6 years of my life! HaHA. It depends what you get a degree in not just having a degree. My wife is a teacher as well and after 20 years at it she makes what I made in the 90's. Sorry for the thread hijack.

I hope the OP doesn't teach spelling.

Thats a 22 MXZ, not a VLX.
But it is a nice color combo.

Sold the Vandall, eh? Nice MB. How do you like it compared to the A22? Does it have the Switch Surf System?

TN- I sell trucking for oilfield company. We can haul almost anything.

MC - YES I did, it sold pretty quick. I like both the A22 and the MB. With the B52 being 23ft the extra roon is nice. The wakes are totally different but both are nice to me. The A22 wake is less sensitive than the B52. However the interior in my opinion on the MB is much better all around. For wakeboarding the stock ballast is plenty for me on the new one with 3000+ lbs but with the switch system it needs more weight. I have 800s coming in today and will try them out Sunday.

Nice man. Congrats on your purchase and looking forward to seeing some pics of that Switch wave!

Computer programmer here. Be 59 in another month. Still got a 92 Ski Nautique that I paid cash for in 93. Will have my house on the lake paid off next year. I would most likely have a better boat newer but the $300K in cash my divorce cost in 2002 kind of put a damper on that. Plus I really like riding the cable. When this boat croaks I'll probably budget up to $25K for another. Will only buy if I can pay cash. No more debt in this life for me. A guy on my lake has a G23, and I need to introduce myself. :)

I am a union fitter/welder on the heavy industrial side. I've got about 35k in collateral between my truck and boat. Both are for sell. The plan is to get back into a 5.9 cummins, all black 3/4 ton, and I plan on buying a new axis A22 in the near future. All black with orange accents :D I too always am asking myself what the hell people do to afford new boats and rigs!

Bryce,

If you have a need for beveling equipment give me a call (508)-429-4441

Best, Alex Brennan

No worries, I don't. I teach people how to shoot. Luckily I don't do that job drunk fat fingering typing on a cell phone.

I'm 22 and just picked up an axis t23. I work as a petroleum engineer and decided I'm too young to buy a house and bought a boat instead.
