Mercruiser MAG 350, getting hours off ECM??
 

I am looking at a boat with a Mercruiser 350 Mag MPI. The boat is a 2001. Owner states the Hourmeter went out last season.

I called a Mercruiser dealership and they stated that they can get RPM profiles from the ECM, but NOT total engine run time. This dealer mainly deald with outboards, so maybe different system on inboard. Has anyone with this engne got hours off the ECM from their service shop??

had a 98 tige with mercruiser. had dealer check hour meter against ecm to verify hours, they were close. I am assuming that your ecm will store hours. its a 3 year newer motor than mine was.

The ECM will store both RPM history as well as total operating hours. The RPM profiles may be able to be cleared, but the total operating hours should be fixed and not be able to be modified.
