Warning: Proud Dad Boasting Zone.
My little guy, Austin. 6'4", 195 Sophmore who starts both ways at Tight End/Wideout and Defensive End, plus handles the kicking. After 3 games leads his team in Receiving and Sacks.

Duece: I remind him of that daily. God has dealt him a good hand... he should finish up around 6'8" according to his doctors. He never had that tall kid all arms and elbows body type. He's a naturally gifted 3 sport athlete....pitches and plays 1st and 3rd, made the JV squad as a freshman last year... he's put on 3 inches and 30 pounds since, he should be really good this year. Also starts at Forward on the BB team. And he pulls a consistent 3.0-3.5 GPA. And doesn't give us any trouble. His Mom does a great job keeping him level, I do what I can with the sports. I gotta admit, after coaching him since he was 5 or 6, it's kinda nice turning him over to the High School staff to finish up the job. I couldn't quit cold turkey though, still help coach his travel baseball tournament team.

Even better, his little sister (one grade younger) is just as smart, Cheerleads on the JV squad, and plays basketball pretty well too, (shes already 5-9 as a freshman, she'll make an even 6 feet according to the docs). Going thru that bitchy teenage girl thing, but I'm told this shall pass.

I am not a boastful person, I've not accomplished great things financially or socially, but if my children shine as good solid citizens, them Mom and I are more than happy.

Here he is last year at bat in a showcase game as a freshman at Raley Field, home of the AAA Sacramento Rivercats. Pretty cool the opportunities that are open to young athletes these days, I never would have dreamed of some of the stuff they do when I was that age.

Though it didn't end like we would have hoped, first travel game of the season is in the books. Saving grace, the Little One was given the game puck as the player of the game.... Not bad for an 8 year old girl playing in a U10 "boys" league.....

Don't mind her lucky purple socks poking out from the bottom....

She'll take the ice with the U12 Lady Lightning on Saturday and try to get the stink of losing off....
