I am getting ready to change the in-line (not screw on) fuel filter on my 2004 Supra SSV. Are there any special precautions I should take? I know that on cars the fuel system should be depressurized by pulling the fuel pump relay or fuse while the motor is running. Does the same hold true for a boat? <BR> <BR>I ask because the fuel lines are rubber in my Supra as opposed to metal on a car. I don't know if that makes a difference in the amount of pressure in the system? I just don't want to blow myself up :-) <BR> <BR>Has anyone changed their boat's fuel filter before?

Where is this filter located. If it is between the tank and the pump (on the block), it is not pressurized. If its between the in tank pump, and the engine block, it is pressurized. <BR> <BR>If its pressurized, there is a schrader valve (like a bike tire) on the fuel rail on the top of the motor you can press to release the pressure. Eitehr that, or loosen the lines very slowly. <BR> <BR>Really, even if its pressurized, just be careful. Not that big of a deal. and Please, use at least good open end wrenches, no crescent/adjustable wrenches. In a situation like this, you shoudl really be using proper "line wrenches", as many of these fittings are very soft. <BR> <BR>Have a cup to catch some of the gas from teh line, as well as the new filter to put in immediately. Make SURE to put the filter in with the flow direction the right way.

The filter is between the fuel tank and the fuel pump. It is in-line with only rubber fuel hoses attached to it with hose clamps, that's why I was thinking it may not be that high pressure. Tip #1. If its dark dont use a candle.

Changed mine on our '05 Supra 21v. The fuel lines are not under pressure and it was a simple remove the old and install the new.

Yep, if its the hose clamped one, jsut remove and install. I thought it was the spin on type.

Tip #2. No smoking while changing the filter.

Changed it last night. No problems with pressure. Very simple to do. Thanks for teh help!
