I have a Landlock and it works great (lots of fun) but appears to allow limited tricks.

Can someone recommend other wake-surf boards?

Are there any that are bidirectional? Allowing 180s?

ldr 10-14-2003 10:00 AM

Liquid force makes a semi twin tip wakesurfer that is a bit shorter than the landlock. also the new broadcast is supposed to be pretty good. i saw in the surf expo article that double up now is making a wakesurf board as well. we put shallower fins on our land lock and it seemed to make it a lot more fun to ride so you might try that too. Good luck
we had the landlock and sold it and got the broadcast it is a lot more fun I do 360s and 180 on it all the time but it is not a twin tip it just has the 3 small fins on the rear of the board. I have riden the Trick board that is a twin tip but it was to hard to try and free ride without the rope and everyone that I know that has the trick board use it with a rope and just do surface spins like a skim board.

There are plenty of new wakesurf boards that are designed more like skim boards for doing tricks, and other smaller wakesurf boards that are easier to do tricks on:

Inland Surfer Red Chubby http://www.inlandsurfer.com/
Phase 5 Icon and Prop http://www.phase5boards.com/
Trick Boardz http://www.trickboardz.com/

Dave has a product page just for wakesurf boards:

http://www.wakeworld.com/Surf/

Can you use an old skurfer?

shanny 10-14-2003 2:03 PM

how do you wake surf?
Yeah the Trick Boardz have a harder learning curve but are worth it in the end. They are the only true symetrical twin tip board on the market and if I am not mistaken (which I'm not) they have a patent pending on that symetrical design. Phase 5 is a great riding board that is very very fun, possibly even more so than the Trick but they are only directional so the ultimate amount of tricks you can do is going to be somewhat limited. From my ridings, the Hypes are trashy (not trying to be anti-hype....just what I think) Inlands are pretty fun and Soft Tops are alright as well.

whats up i have chilled with drew dainelothe world champ wake surfer out at the lake. he rides for phase 5 and its a tight azz board i liked it the few seconds i was on it

That is great info on all the wake surfboards
thks wakeworld. When I am out on those ontario waters this summer you can be I will be adding either the broadcast or the landlock to my quiver.

Broadcast!

solo 02-06-2004 11:07 PM

p/s I own the Phase Five, Landlock, Broadcast and Inland Chubby. The Broadcast still is my favorite to ride!

liquidfergie 02-08-2004 4:32 AM

Being a bit heavier I would suggest the Landlock. If you are less than 165 I think the Broadcast would be the dealio! I have not riden the Phase Five but am anxious to check it out.

I have Byerly Fins in the Landlock and can do surface threes all day long no problem. It is alot more loose but alot of fun once you get it dialed. Try several boards before you make the purchase. I found the wooden Trickboardz to make good firewood! All on our boat agreed! Patent that! Gee I wonder why Hyperlite is so successful? They do it right the first time!

Best wishes for long lines and alot of fun!
Rob, I would disagree on that assessment. Myself and just about everyone that surfs our Broadcast is over 200 pounds and every one of us like it better than the Landlock. It is just as stable, but allows you to do tricks easier than the bigger Landlock. Just my opinion.

By the way, I would agree on your Trickboardz assessment!

sdboardr99 02-08-2004 11:32 AM

What didn't you like about the Trickboardz? I tried 2 of their models and found them to be pretty fun. Very quick and very loose, easy to spin. Not a board for surfing the wake like the Broadcast or Landlock, but more along the lines of the Phase 5.
captainfreedom 02-08-2004 11:43 AM

Hard to explain. There were a few guys that tried it one day and none of us liked it very much. It was really loose and did not want to stay in the pocket. The Phase 5 is loose too, but you can still surf it and keep it in the pocket. Just didn't feel comfortable on it at all.

Coming from a skateboarding background makes Trick Boardz easy to ride. I am 250 lbs and have no problem. I threw a 180 on my first ride and kept it stable and in the pocket.
