there is no such thing as a hs frontroll im guessing what you are thinking of is a hs mexican backroll

06-17-2004 1:06 PM

there is a heelside front.

a mexi roll is a hs front flip ( like a tantrum but forward, let go of back hand, throw your head to your toes after you pop) . a ts front roll is a cartwheel forward ( throw your head to your lead shoulder, let go of your lead hand if they turn into frantrums) . Of course they exist otherwise i was just imagining doing that.

A hs front roll is the basic back roll. The back roll was originally called a "backside roll" in the days when the term "backside" was synonomys with "heelside" and was not just considered a direction of spinning. The name backside roll was shorted to back roll. So technically speaking, a what is commonly known as a back roll is a hs front roll. A tantrum is technically a hs back roll. However, being this technical in conversation will just confuse everybody, so don't bother.

Ok, in today's terminology there is no heelside frontroll, the closest thing is the mexi back roll, which is a back roll, but instead of looking over your left shoulder you look under. if you picture this in your mind it would look like a toeside frontroll. A heelside front flip is the a flip nose over tail in the same direction as a tantrum, remember flip is tip over tail and roll is rail over rail.

actually there is a hs front roll. i landed my first one yesterday. it sort of looks like a raley when you are half way through. just throw your body over the rope and hold on with 2 hands spot you landing and it'll work. i'll try and put a pic off it. <BR> <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/3184/178718.jpg" alt=""> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/3184/178719.jpg" alt="">

that is called a back roll. There are only a couple of ways your board and body can leave the wake. hs front roll is not one of them. as steve was saying: rail over rail, tip over tail. You have the tantrum. unmistakable because you lead with your back over the wake. you have the front flip. tip over tail. if that trick is done incorrectly you are getting something between the flip and a tantrum. you have the raley. easily recognized. finally there is the back roll. there is only two ways to do it. the correct way and the mexican way. anytime your head and upper body have to rotate inward towards the wake on your hs for an invert you are doing a variation of the "back roll". So if you are not doing a kgb or a roll to blind, I suggest learning the back roll the correct way because you might have trouble learning tricks that build off of the back roll, such as roll to revert and mobes. If you need more explanation let me know.

On the back of the new WakeTrick movies it list all of the moves it teaches. One of them is a HS Front Roll. I haven't seen the video to see what they are saying it is, but I thought it was funny that it was on there. <BR> <BR> <BR><a href="http://www.wakeboardamerica.com" target="_blank">http://www.wakeboardamerica.com</a> <BR><a href="http://www.wakeboardalabama.com" target="_blank">http://www.wakeboardalabama.com</a> <BR><a href="http://www.wakeboardatlanta.com" target="_blank">http://www.wakeboardatlanta.com</a> <BR><a href="http://www.wakeboardcarolinas.com" target="_blank">http://www.wakeboardcarolinas.com</a> <BR><a href="http://www.wakeboardtennessee.com" target="_blank">http://www.wakeboardtennessee.com</a> <BR><a href="http://www.wakeboardohio.com" target="_blank">http://www.wakeboardohio.com</a> <BR>
