Hey Guys,
I have a 2005 Mastercraft x-45 that we have used for the past 3 years. Last year at the end of the season, our poor boat suffered prop and gelcoat damage and had to go into the shop for repair. When we got the boat back, the service manager informed us that they replaced the prop with a newer version 14x 14.5 power prop that should help quite a bit with Hole shot. I always thought our boat had decent hole shot for what we were using it for, but didn't argue, as I figure dthey knew more than I did about Mastercrafts. I wasn't able to get the boat out until this year and noticed a significant difference. The hole shot was better, but my top end speed went way down from 44-47 MPH down to a measly 36 MPH and my fuel usage shot way up. I was very happy with what I had previously, and want to get my old prop specs. I know that I did not have the stock 13.7x 17 prop that came stock with the boat and am afraid the shop has no idea what I had on the boat before the accident. I just want to have the prop I had previously, back so I can have the performance we used to have. We do a lot of cruising as well as wakeboarding and will sometimes travel 30-50 miles up and down the Columbia river to camp on the islands, so Fuel consumption is of some importance. Can anyone help with what they are using for their prop and what their top MPH is? It's not that I want to go hella fast, I just know that Top end is related to Fuel economy and I am tired of pulling wakeboarders at 4000+ rpm's and wasting fuel, when what we had before worked so well. also I want to be able to go at cruising speed and be more fuel efficient. Any help would be appreciated. thanks, Chris

Yeah, the 13.7x17 would have been the stock prop, if it was changed out it will be pretty hard to determine which prop you had on it. You should give the guys at Acme a call, they let a buddy of mine "demo" 3 different props and then buy the one he liked best.

Give Eric @ OJ props a call, or send him an email...as MC's come stock (IIRC) with OJ props.

ejojprop@aol.com
http://www.ojprops.com/

I do more boarding than anything and I found the more aggressive prop seems to be on par or better than a prop limiting my top end and raising my RPM at lower speed. The only thing I can attribute it to is getting to plane quickly without the 'struggle'.

Anyway...give Eric a call. He'll know what came stock and will also let you demo.

Take care,
Paul
