Whats up? I've been away for a few weeks and wakeworld now looks like wakeboarding magazine. Wakeboarding Mag is barely about wakeboarding at all, its 98% about pro wakeboarders not about wakeBOARDING. (Except Kyle Schmidt's excellent instructionals)

Today there are 10 highlights on the home page here about pro wakeboarders and 1 about wakeboarding (the boat weight issue). Maybe I'm the only one, but I'd much rather read more about WAKEBOARDING and less about the professional wakeboarders. Yes, us enthused about the sport do pay attention to the pros, but they really play a small role in OUR enjoyment of the sport.

No offense to any pros or aspiring pros (I've met a couple of you and you are good folks), but I'd rather have a little less frosting and a little more cake.

so what does this have to do with the title of your thread?

I think the mix of pro talk and actual "wakeBOARDING" talk is great. I definatly like to hear about the pro riders. They just put up a review of "Scrubs of the South" , that's good cause I was contemplating buying the DVD. So ya I think there doing a great job. Keep it up wakeworld!

It's February. There's really not much wakeboarding happening, unless you are living in Florida. Personally, the pros inspire me to ride harder. I like the pro talk.

haha spoken like a true american J-Rod I don't live in florida and I am off wakeboarding hardout for the next 4 days

So what do you want to see and read about instead? If you have ideas on how to make WakeWorld better, post them in the Wakeworld Suggestion Box topic - that's what it's for!.
You're right, it is a little pro heavy right now, but we try to mix it up throughout the year. I'll work on it.

tiger20 02-03-2004 12:53 PM

Lunker - If you think WakeWorld is 98% about pro riders you are TOTALLY missing the point. This is a community first and foremost. Wakeboarding is just a passion we all share.

Thank you David. I'm sure you know what I mean about wake publications in general, not just yours. Yours happens to be my best source for wakeBOARDING info. I just didn't want to see it become WakeBoarding Magazine Jr. (aka Pro Wakeboarder Magazine)

Sure I subscribe to WakeBaording Magazine. But I only do it for the ads

This time of year content is hard to come by. It is the off season for 90% of us you know. Most videographers are all editing footage captured last season, hence the abundance of pro coverage during the off season. I personally think it keeps me stoked about riding when it's 43 degrees and rainy outside.

jonb 02-05-2004 2:35 PM

so does pro wakeboarders have nothing to do with wakeboarding?

wakescene 02-06-2004 2:45 PM

Could Lunker's post be considered a form of Blasphemy?

wakeboard4568 02-08-2004 1:03 PM
