Trying to add more light and color everywhere on my boat so I did this little project. This isn't the final product, just wanted to see how everything worked and looked before I made it out of Carbon Fiber. Took a stock Malibu glove box and shaved the emblem then made it glow Malibu in blue! Whatcha think?

Like I said final project well be a smooth glove box in carbon fiber, and I'll polish were the Malibu is after tinting it with smoked clear coat so during the day you can't see the Malibu but at night it'll shine! Should have the finished product installed on the boat by the end of the week!

Had to resize the photos, what a pain! lol The next one I build out of Carbon Fiber I'll upload the Malibu emblem to the cnc mill so the lines sharper and truer. Just wanted a proof of concept before I put alot of expensive material into it. Gonna build a carbon fiber dash too! The chrome on the dash has some bubbles and it catches the sun. So killing to birds with one stone!

p.s. This is with one white LED, I'm waiting on a shipment of LED's to come and this well have two blue LED's in the carbon fiber one so the emblem well be brighter and won't have any light defussion.

(Message edited by 2006maliblue on December 07, 2009)

Really cool idea I'm excited to see the final execution. Did you ever finish your swim platform or replacing the floatation for lead?
I love the last one there only a wakeboarder would dream of such a thing.

Hate, I did finish the swim platform but I wasn't happy with the finished product, I've actually changed it up a bit and I think it not only looks cooler but its more functional I'll post pics the first part of January after I get all the new decking on and done!

The lead is in and we've boarded several times with it already. But it has its disadvantages though. When I have a full boat and we're trying to get someone new up on the board or one of the girls up they get scared of the wake. And its not great for novice boarders, last time we had a girl boarding behind the monster wake the ambulance had to haul her out! Kind of embarassing, especially when the CIE boys are at the launch ramp watching! lol

Ha, ha, ha..... Robert if anyone could understand your pain on that it'd be us. On a normal day with the load we carry we can't get our boat light enough for a novice rider even with all the water weight dumped.

It's all good brotha. Can't wait to see the new bling at Spring Ride.

Robert, looks great....anytime you can get away from a stock look and make it even better, I say go ahead.....Malibu should make your idea an option!!!

Thinking about getting a wakesetter? How do you like it?

supra 12-10-2009 10:00 AM

You should put your last name or a nickname or your kids name instead of malibu... Looks cool...

By CIE's Spring Ride my boat should be glowing bright enough to be scene from space! lol At Least thats the idea!

Got some new pics of progress. Popped a fresh door out of the mold in carbon fiber. All smooth with the emblem shaved.

Just need to clean the mold release off and wetsand

Here's a close up of the carbon fiber

And a little closer!

Just need to wet sand and polish machine out the malibu to make it glow and clear coat with a good uv clear coat to protect the carbon fiber. Should have a finished door by the end of the week!
