What size Drop Hitch for a Superduty F250
2012 F250 Superduty (stock height) connecting to a 09' X star? How much drop do i need? I have to pick up the hitch on my way to pick the boat up.:o
Probably hard to tell without seeing it all together. Trailers and wheel and tires could cause fluctuations. I bet you would be safe with a 3-4" drop though
I use e rapid hitch. Can be adjusted once boat is hooked to the truck.
depends but the truck is a 4x4 and stock height id say just the standard 2 inch drop alomost level if its 2wd u might need one that goes up the frame height is very low on the later model superduty
my truck has a 2" lift kit and a 2" drop would be ideal to get hitch 18-21" off ground
The underside of the boat hitch is apprx 20", the top of the hitch received is almost the same (approx 20"). Which suggests that i need a 0 drop/rise hitch. Bdoes that make sense?
They make some straight out hitches. Usually they are 3 way(have 3 ball sizes depending on whatbwaybyoubput hitch into receiver)
Well I just picked up the standard 2" drop. This puts the trailer frame in line with the hitch receiver. Should be close enough for now.
Also I noticed the rating capacity in the 2" ball is 6000lbs. This is getting pretty close to the gross weight of the boat and trailer. |
the 2" drop seems to work good. But I decided to go get a heavier receiver/hitch ball. The Receiver i got is rated 15000lbs and the 2" ball is rated for 10000lbs. So I think Im covered :)

I also use Rapid Hitch and would be lost without it.
