where is a good place to camp on grand to boat over and watch the comp? also what other activities will they have going on on the lake/shoreline? i havent ever been on grand, so any info would help....or would it be better to get a room?? are there any hotels near the lake??

jayman1 06-05-2003 1:58 PM

Grove Fest 2003 is taking place Friday and Saturday, 20-21 of June. Honey Creek Marina is the closest landmark/lakemark. Camping is actually very good where the event takes place. If you wish to stay in a hotel, anywhere in the city of Grove is just minutes away. For more info visit www.southernplainsfestival.com or call Sammy Roberts at 918-271-1695.

supradoug 06-05-2003 4:37 PM

Here is a map of the area. Site is on E315 RD.
There was live music Friday and Saturday nights at the campsite last year.
On Grove Chamber of Commerce web site there is alot of stuff going on all over town and the lake.

supradoug 06-05-2003 8:14 PM

More info. The site is in a private campground, can't remember the name. they have water+ electric hookups, showers. it is right on the edge of town. a private boat ramp.

The cable to my PP broke last Sunday and the one they sent was 3 inches longer. haven't heard back to see if it will still work. Have my boat tore apart installing the subs and board for the amps. Hope fully late tommorrow nite. Call me.

stevenf 06-06-2003 10:31 PM

hey your pp cable broke mine did too last week what kind of boat do u have i can tell you what they did to mine to fix it. We went out today and it worked like a champ for the first time. so is that grove place in northern ok like past okc or where abouts.

supradoug 06-07-2003 2:25 PM

03' Launch. The cable they sent had a different sized bracket and was 3 inches longer. I put the cable on only, the way the old one was mounted. I fixed the other one today. The brad has came off one end. Grove is NE of Tulsa off I-44. about 2-1/2 from me in Norman.

Hey guys do you have to be there Friday to enter in the contest? I can't get off work Fri. and I'm down in Midwest City so I probably won't get there till Fri evening. Also I've never been to Grand lake before so is Snider the best place to pitch a tent? Do I need to call and make a reservation or do you think I can get a spot when I show up?

eas 06-16-2003 11:17 AM

What's up guys. I ditched out on Sammy's rainy demo day last month, but Marlon and I should be in for this weekend. I'm not bringing my boat because I have to leave Saturday, but Marlon will probably bring the Mobius. Hope to see you all there!

supradoug 06-16-2003 3:30 PM

Eric P, Sniders Camp is where the tournament will be held and there should be plenty of room.
EAS i talked to Marlon yesterday at T-bird, we will see you this weekend....

mandi 06-23-2003 9:21 AM

Hey Doug I have been practing a whole lot. I am really starting to improve. I can actually go over the wake with out biting it now. And do you remember how I couldn't turn, well I can do that now. I know this sounds like stupid little stuff but it is an improvement for me.

supradoug 06-23-2003 3:29 PM

Souds real good. We may be at Eufaula this weekend, but don't know for sure now. Trying to recover from the Grove trip. There was a group of girls who competed from OsU. They would try anything. I will post some pics later....

mandi 06-23-2003 8:27 PM

We will probably be out on the lake. We was camping all last week. Does Ryan have his cast off? I am sure he does but I am just wondering. If he does can he ride yet?

butterboardwear 06-23-2003 8:54 PM

Doug what pics do you have? We have alot of party pics if you know what I mean. I will try to post them tomorrow if we can find the cord to the camera.

The tournament was fun and alot of BUTTER was out and about

eas 06-24-2003 6:35 AM

Thanks to Doug and the fam for allowing us to pitch the tent and snag some warmth off a nice fire. And to butterboardwear for the swag they provided to the top 3 of each division. Doug, how is Sha-Na-Na's ankle? If he doesn't take it easy, he will not be ready for SPF. Hope to see you guys on the water soon....and I know I'll see you at Eufaula.

sid7 06-24-2003 5:11 PM

Doug, who were those girls? i would like to see if they wanted to ride sometime....its hard to find girls around here that push it that much!

butterboardwear 06-24-2003 6:40 PM

SID I got their #'s if you want them i can give them to you just email me at Jay@butterbo ardwear.com and I will get them to you.

Eric your welcome, and thanks to you and all the riders that rode and made the event a great sucess.

We will see all of you at at SPF.

supradoug 06-24-2003 9:06 PM

Jay, tell the girl from Moore to come jump on the trampoline to actually practice a little. Ryan went to the Doc monday and is out of the cast and the brace, just needs to do the exercises. Sid, the girls are from OsU and they have more balls than most guys i've seen try to pull stuff off. all i can say is DAM@

supradoug 06-24-2003 9:32 PM

Ok, look at this pic closely, notice the guy in the red hat? Rocky was styling retro all weekend. Thanks for the memories i wore clothes like that back in the 70's.......

supradoug 06-24-2003 10:30 PM

Ok all the pics for now. Got down there Thursday evening and enjoyed butter all evening. Friday jay and Michael gave us a little wakeskate action with Michael doing a 360 body variable? it was sweet whatever it is called. Saturday came with winds out of the east but bearable, I think the total count for riders was 48, not bad for the 2nd year. Rocky I need a pic of you on the bicycle. SWEET. i talked to alot of people who were new to wakeboarding. The most important thing is don't be shy, ask questions...If you want to know what the wake is like behind a SSV compared to a Bayliner or whatever, pull up and ask for a pull. Those girls from the OsU ski team were killer. They arn't skeered to try anything, thanks to Sammy Roberts from Thomas Marine in Checotah,Ok for providing the Yellow SAN TE to pull with. Y ou can find Sammy at Eufaula Cove and check out all the gear they have. If you are in any of the pics and I didn't mention your name post on here and let us know......Thanks See you all at SPF

soonerboarder 06-25-2003 9:18 AM

Way to go Marlon! Now, quit giving me all that, "Oh, I can't land anything this year" crap!

Looked like fun, wish I could have made it. Hopefully next year will not be as busy for me.

eas 06-25-2003 11:12 AM

Thanks for posting the pics Doug.

See you on the water.

mandi 06-25-2003 3:45 PM

Well it looks like everyone had fun. I was out on Eufuala. The weather was pretty nice until Sunday and it got pretty choppy. Oh yeah the guy in the red hat is awesome. LOL. Retro is awesome.

butterboardwear 06-27-2003 7:01 PM

It was a great time we have alot of pics also but are to stupid to figure out how to post them. They are all party shots though.

Wait I do have one of rocky and the bike....
