Finally landed a few raleys, but I am not very happy with the way they look at all. So I was wondering if you guys could take a look at this video and maybe give me a few pointers. Sorry about the bad quality video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLt5uhkPovU

They don't look too bad but a longer line and a bigger, farther out cut would give you more hang time, but the form isn't bad...

they're allright maby just a longer rope would help

westsidarider 10-13-2009 11:32 PM

yea longer line, longer cut and ride a lil faster and you will find you will have much more hang time and will feel better.

the other thing is your leaving off your back foot a little bit too much which is causing you to stargaze a little bit, meaning your front foot is coming up higher that your back in the air. make sure when you take off the wake you have your weight even on both feet. your form is pretty damn good now but its best to fix the small problem now before it starts to give you bad habits and keeps you from learning to progress the trick

looks fine you just need a longer rope and a longer and a bit more of a progressive cut all the way through.

The way you cut now could actually work for a glide, whereas if you want a big raley out to the flats you need to edge out as far as you can than build a super progressive edge all the way through. I would suggest starting your cut a little slower, Im noticing a lot of slack as you come down off the raley which I think is from starting your edge too fast at the start of the raley.

The good part is you look comfortable already so just keep tweaking it you'll be doing massive ones with your eyes shut in no time

yeah definitely take a longer, more progressive edge, not the short all or nothing one you got going on now.

Try and bump up your speed a mile an hour or two.

Tyler - WOW your raley are on par for learning, you are loading the line perfect. Your raley's look just like how my buddy Mike started them out and he know throws the cleanest and biggest raley's in the group. his rope length is 65 and his speed is 22mph kind of old school but his riding looks sick, you don't have to go faster or have a longer rope than current set up to perfect it, but the progression will eventually be longer rope and faster.

Mr. McKim said it best: "yeah definitely take a longer, more progressive edge, not the short all or nothing one you got going on now."

Thanks for the advice guys. I hope that we can get a rain free weekend here pretty soon so I can go out and try and get it dialed. Jim that is an awesome sequence shot that is exactly what I would like my raleys too look like some day. Ben It was actually lake Granger dont have anywhere in cs to keep the boat so have to head home every weekend I want to ride.

seriously, im impressed. I haven't seen anyone do a w2w raily while learning in a long time. Makes me want to try one.

The idea that in order to learn this trick you just need to go balls out has always irked me.
