I'm one of those guys now...

Yep, i am one of those guys on the lake with a damn jet ski. I keep my boat at the lake, about 1.5 hours away, and am always wanting to ride through the week on the Ohio river, about 2 miles from work. 2 problems, first is that the boat is at the lake, and second is the amount of trees that float down the river. So the end of last week i found a pretty good deal on an 1100 yamaha waveraider. So i figured i would give it a shot. This way i hope to be able to skate on the river through the week. The only problem i see as of now is a way to fix the rope to the ski. It is a 1995 model and there is no ski eye. I think i am going to mount a couple of eye-bolts through the two holes at the back. (the place you put the pins to strap the ski to the trailer) Anyone have any experience with this?

Coincidentally, I have the same ski. I have in the past rigged it up so that it loops over the seat post in the back. Ghetto, but it seems to work. Thankfully, I have not ridden like that very much, but it's doable.

I skated behind my old seadoo last year and it didn't have an eye for a rope either. I wrapped the rope around the handle on the rear of the ski. I think these yamahas have a similar handle to pull yourself out of the water. Just wrap a good bit of the rope around that handle since you don't have to ride 80ft behind the ski. Worked well for me anyways.

And who cares what you're ridin behind. As long as you can get on the water and skate is all that matters.

I bought a ski eye at west marine or somewhere similar and mounted it just above the grab handle.
Lift the seat and remove the battery compartment, you should be able to access the area. put a backing plate on to reduce strain on the fiberglass.
Mine looks like it came from the factory. sorry no pics '96 waveblaster
