Hey I just read the post about problems with the knee from wakeboarding, snowboarding, etc. I'm 17 and havent been riding for that long, and i dont have knee problems. However, it seems almost inevitable. How many people have been riding for a considerable amount of time (2+ years) and have never had knee problems?

My brother (26) and myself (21) have been riding for about 8 years now and neither of us have had any kind of injury what so ever.

Ive been riding for a while (5 years) granted im not landing crow mobes, have landed threes without rope, backrolls, and raileys. I only tweaked my knee once that i recall and my ankles once but no surgery or major problems. Now you have to take into account how high many of these people are jumping that blow out their knees. Probably running 3k lbs in their boats and going 15 + ft high in the air? There are those that just land wrong and there is nothing you can do to prevent freak accidents no matter how much you prepare. Dont fret, just have decent insurance, or parents insurance for that very reason.

I'm 49 and have been riding since 1995 and my knees are 100%. Although my ankles seem to take a beating. I twisted my knee really bad on a slalom ski in the early 90's but it recovered in a couple months.

I think Bob is right about going big. I only try to go big enough to do the trick. My ankles will start complaining long before my knees have any problem. Although a lot of the times I tweak an ankle is because of going too small on a scarecrow. Like highrider sez... knock on wood.
