Sanger 237
Looking for a new boat to fit our family's desire to surf. Most of us are goofy with a couple regular. How is the surf wave on both sides. Would be interested in the 215 however I need the wife to be comfortable that we aren't going to sink the boat. :) Any info about the V237 would be great. Photos would be even better.

I have lots of pics and some video, they are from the Castaic contest in 2008. Keep in mind, it was choppy and windy, so not as pretty.

Here are a couple.

I want to ride behind a 215 or 237. the wakes look so good.
|
Wave looks great. How did you guys get it there and how did the boat handle rollers weighted that much?
I have looked online at the Sangers but can't get over the wild looking graphics on all the 237's I have seen. Anyone know of one with simple graphics, like all white? |
@Dennis: great looking wave. I have always been interested in this boat as well. Any info on set up, handling, etc. I have always heard Sanger has a great wave, but ride very low in the water.
|
Ctimrun, you could order it with a simple gel pattern if you wish.
|
The boat handles the weight very well easy to turn and such. Both of the pictures I attached are with stock ballast in front and on surf side. 600# lead and a sac about 300 - 400 pounds on top of that. The v237 rides much higher as it is 9" taller. The hull shape is the same as the V215. The wake has great height. Clean face and smooth transtition. I weighted it exactly the same as I do my V215. Sanger will build you a boat anyway you want it.

This boat.....

Dennis, or anyone else with experience on these Sangers,
How sturdy are these new towers? I was in a new 215 with the same tower as the white one above and when I shook the tower it seemed to flex side to side quite a bit. |
^ They look like a Sampson tower (http://www.samsonsports.com/wakeboard_tower.html). If they are, Sampson is known to make a really good tower.
|
I have seen a couple Sangers with Samson towers, but I think there is another manufacturer's name on most of their towers. Anyone?
|
They are not samson towers from the factory. I have seen them up close, they are similar, but not built as well, thinner tubing. Not that they are bad, but samson's towers are amazing.
|
I live in Portland we have a Sanger dealer in longview and most of their boats have Samson towers they must order their boats without towers than send them over to Samson
|
I think those towers are made by wake air... wakeair.com

I don't think I really need to mention the wave, but yes it's a ton of fun. |
Andrew,
How solid is the tower when a heavy wakeboarder cuts back and forth? Any other issues with the boat I should look out for? |
What about surf tabs on the 237? Are they worth the money or a waste?
|
I have a 2008 V237 and I LOVE...you know..that cuddly love...the boat!
I run factor ballast with 800lbs in the surf side corner....because I'm a fat pig! The wake is big and LONG. My wife can surf with just the factory ballast, but she is only 130lbs.....aka..not a fat pig. Tower: I believe that Sanger produces their own towers. If you know about Sanger, you know they are strong enough to handle the abuse! Surf Tabs: I hear that the Wake Series package on the V237 is awesome! Just what I've heard..never seen it. Wish I had it....some day! The V215 is a great all around boat. Best handling v-drive on the market! It's a great wakeboarding boat and a good surf boat (with weight). If your into surfing, the V237 is the boat. If you wakeboard behind it, wear a helmet....the air will be BIG! |
The Surf tabs work well to adjust the wake quickly. They allow you to run less weight in the front of the boat. They are great for teaching someone to surf that is intimidated by a big wave as you can easily knock down the size and steepness with the touch of a button. They don't replace weight in the back of the boat.

Harold, The Pro Shop does prefer Samson towers the the Wake Air towers that Sanger uses and you are right they do order them sans a tower. In fact they do most everything in house to the boats. They order them pretty base and add quite a bit of cool options.
If Sanger puts the tower on the boat I trust it and if for some reason there were to be an issue I know they'll stand behind it. I have a V215 and really love it but my next boat will be a V237 for sure. |
