I need to fit a stainer on my boat as it doesn't have one. <BR> <BR>Over here in the UK all I can find are 1" OR 1 1/2" strainers. I'm thinking I can clamp down the hose to 1" ok and seeing as some nautiques use 1" hose they engine shouldn't be starved of water right? <BR> <BR>Any one care to comment?

I wouldn't do it. You can't find any fittings that drop from 1 1/2 to 1 1/4?
