Hi all! I am pretty new around here so if this info can be found somewhere else please help me out with a link! <BR> <BR>I have an 03 Avalanche and I'm still playing with the fat sacs to get the surf wave looking good on the port side. If you have your Avy dialed in please let me know what you have found to work! <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR>Here's what I have to work with.... <BR> <BR>1. No built in ballast <BR>2. Extended range fuel tank which is 64 gallons or more importantly about 400# midship (I always keep it topped off for the weight) <BR>3. Launch pad 725# which fills the port V-drive locker about 3/4 full <BR>4. Flying High fat sac I think about 500# (I can put this full on the port seat or on top of launch pad in the port locker and fill about 1/3 full) <BR>5. Two Flying High side sacs about 175# each (fit well under the port seats lined up end to end) <BR> <BR>So I have about 1575# of water ballast weight plus the 400# in fuel plus people to work with. <BR> <BR>Any recommendation where to put the bags? <BR> <BR>Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

You need to put some of that weight in the bow. That boat throws a really nice wave. With the weight you have and 5 or 6 people it should be nice.

i have a 06 avelanche with the stock 3 tank ballast <BR>we fill the center and port ballast <BR>550 v drive sack ontop of stock in rear locker <BR>550 in the port side seat <BR>250 in the center in the bow <BR>250 stock center ballast <BR>250 stock rear port ballast <BR>i rarely have more than 2 people in the boat but it kicks a pretty mean wave

So essentially you have 800# in rear port locker, 250# midship, 550# port seat, and 250# in the bow. <BR> <BR>I can almost match that... 750# rear port locker, 500# port seat, 300-400# (gas) midship, 175# port bow, and that leaves me another 175# to move around. I'll try that out. I may put that last 175# in the rear port locker with the 750# sac. I think it will fit. I could also put it under the port seat about midship or a little rear of midship. Have an 04 and run stock center ballast full, 825 port side locker,600 port side seat with 150 of lead under the port side seat and 275 in the bow port side with at least 2-3 people in the boat. Throws a pretty clean and big wave.

Oh yea the rub rail is actually touching the water if not below the water line.

Anthony.. Thanks for sharing your ballast set up! How much is the stock center ballast? Is the rub rail touching the water at rest or when your going? Or both? <BR> <BR>I'm excited to play around with it this weekend and see if I can get it dialed in!

i believe 600, but it could be less. 400 at least, rub rail is at sea level while sitting and under water while running.

i have played with it a little the other day i filled the starboard ballast up and adde 2 people on the rt. side one on the swim deck and one on the port seat on top of the bag and it is monstrous!!!! <BR>hey best of luck i'm trying to get some pics up <BR>isn't stock ballast 250 per tank am i mistaken?

my 06' has 250lb tanks. 04' might even be 200. Every year since they go up. Switch to bags and it's simple to do.

i added a 200 bow sack this weekend to mine and that finished it is awesome and with only my wife in the boat as driver now i need to plumb it to fill without all the hassle of seperate sacks

I put the Enzo sac in the port locker and ran it under the passenger seats, and this fall/winter I'm going to take the plumbing off the Starboard tank and run it to the port Bow 200lb sac. Right now I manually fill the bow sac. <BR> <BR>Enzo sac takes over 20 mins to fill and usually just chill and motor through no wake zone.

Well I experimented this weekend. Put the 750 plus the 175 in port locker, 500 on port seat, and 175 port bow. I had one person 150 in port bow and two people sitting on port seat sac. It was a good size wave but it didn't have much push. I know this set up would work better in a deeper lake. We were running in 11 feet deep. Unfortunately thats a deep as it gets in this lake. There has got to be a way to get a good wave in a shallow lake. Would a faster board help? I am a big guy 6'3" and 275. I am riding a HL landlock 5'11".

Get a Red Tide. Yes a faster board helps a ton.

Sounds like you're at Utah lake? If so, its impossible to get a great looking wake there. That's where we've been going and its tough to get a wave with much push like you said in that shallow of water. We went to Powell last month with the same setup in the boat and the wave is twice as big--seriously. It has everything to do with the water depth. Can't wait for the reserviors to heat up because surfing is much more fun there.

I really want to get a good surf wave at Utah Lake cause I can launch in 10 minutes from the house! But I know what you mean cause we had a great wave at Deer Creek last fall but haven't been able to get it even close to that at Utah Lake this year. My heart sank when I read your post with that "impossible" word in there. Thanks for ruining my monday! LOL

Hey bigcatpt, I too have been in shalow water, about 12 to 15 feet and my 04 avy still seems to throw a huge wave. I haven't noticed any difference, but Kenny is right, the depth does come into play. I thought as long as you are in at least 10 feet of water you should be OK. But I could be wrong, what have you heard Kenny?

Anthony. Our usual depth at Utah Lake is 9-11 feet in the middle of the lake. It is very consistant and flat. I can get the Avy to have a pretty large wave but it doesn't have much push to it. I am still playing around with it. <BR>The guys at M &amp; M Centurion dealership in Springville say that they can get a pretty good wave going out there but they are running the switchblade which I am sure helps a lot. I'm still playing around with the weight to see if I can get it right. The other lakes in the area are getting warm enough to hit them now but just not as close and easy. I'll be a Lake Powell all next week so I am pumped about that!!!!
