Malibu keyless ignition issue

Hey guys - boat is floating right now and for some reason the start button does not want to turn the boat over. Everything works in the boat other then the start button. The stop button flashes red everytime i push it but i am getting no response from the start button. Any pointers here?

First thing to check: Push the throttle back and forth a few times, then click it back in neutral. Sounds like the switch thinks its in gear and wont let it start../

Pretty sure that boat doesn't have a kill switch!

if youre already off the lake, take it back to the dealer and make them fix it. You just paid 60+k for a boat, use that warranty!

I'm sure you hit the main power and reset? That usually fixes it.

Grossly enough, we found that the boat will usually start after licking your finger and pressing the start button. However sometimes a reset is the only option.

Actually, believe it or not they do still have a kill switch... that would be the first thing I would troubleshoot along with making sure it is in nuetral. Assuming he has the MTC (I think 2010 also has keyless ignition with no MTC), if the screen is responding to all other functions I would bet its one of these two items.

Also, might want to try turning the ignition completely on and off if these other two items dont seem to work.

Just got of the phone with Malibu in Merced. Apparently the module inside the switch went bad. The easiest way to tell if you have switch going bad is if the start or stop button isnt feeling as crisp or firm as it used to be. My start button feels like mush with no click in it. Looks like I will drop it off at the dealer to get swapped out under warranty.
