2002 mastercraft 205v or moomba outback lsv?
 

The mc has way less features. Both have 200 hours. The difference the moomba has perfect pass, bimini, cover and a depth finder.

Both are 20k. Both are in really good attention.

Go with the 205v. I think it has more potential as far as the wake is concerned.

Both are 2002s. Oh yeah the moomba has a ballast system with 3 bags. The mc has a ballast system but it's not working.

205v is one of the most coveted hulls for wakeboarding of all time. does it have a tower? perfect pass is a must as is depth finder. ladies hate the bimini's, but i love having one and they aren't cheap. ballast is probably an easy fix too just get some bags and a pump. i would almost promise you can land/learn all the same tricks behind either boat. decide if you want to pay for perfect pass, possibly a bimini and then decide.

205v all the way! You can add the extras as you go, thats the fun part (working on your boat)! I have friends with both of these boats, and I prefer the mc 205v wake(same as the X-star)Plus the mastercraft will hold it value a longer

205V. $20k is overpriced for the Moomba IMO.

Let me throw in a bone for the Moomba (disclamer, I own a Moomba) While It's true that the MC will hold value better, the Moomba is a great boat. Perfect pass, is NOT AN OPTION, it IS MANDATORY. My Moomba had "moomba cruise" in it, I ripped it out and threw stargazer in, first week I had it. Because the MC does not have a bimini, or PP or a depth finder, all V. important things, IMO, your looking at a bare minimum of +$1700 to get the features on the MC. The Moomba also is a very well crafted boat. Fit and finish (vinyl) prob not as good on the moomba, but motor and fiberglass work, A+, at least as good as MC. Go for the Moomba. Weighted you'll prob be happy with the wake. Sounds to me you'd just by the MC for the name... Not worth it in this case.

My vote, 205V. We had a 2001 MC 205V (Xstar) and was a awesome boat. Just my .02

I have a 03' lsv and i haven't had any problems with it. And i think the bimini is a must. And so is the perfect pass.

The Moomba will be a great boat. The wake is very nice with weight - 3k pounds and it's a very solid wake. I'd rather spend $500 upgrading sacks on a LSV than $5k upgrading all of the stuff on the Mastercraft just go get on par with options for the LSV..

Unless you are the most hardcore rider that needs the absolute best wake possible and have the money to set up the 205v with all of the gadgets, ballast, etc - go with the Moomba imo.

I think 20k for the moomba is a bit overpriced. It would be one thing if it was the mobius but being the outback it seems about 3k too much.

Considering those sold new in 2002 for around 23K, I would say it is way overpriced.

An 03' Mobius with all of the options listed was NOT $23k.

Id go MC. Offer 20 and add perfect pass(if you need it).

Tough call after looking at the ads. Both are good looking boats. Both sound like good deals. I really like the looks of the 205. If they had the same options I would say the 205V no doubt because it is a more plush boat, has a more wake potential and would probably hold it's value better. The Moomba is completely setup. Things it has the 205v doesn't: Bimini; PP, hydraulic wakeplate, tower speakers and PLUMBED in triple ballast(it looks like going off the ad). To add all that stuff to the 205V you are going to spend ~5k like some others have said. That being said if you added all that stuff to the 205v it is probably worth 27.5-30k. The moomba already has all the options and seems like it should be worth more than 20k with all the options and low hours. The 205v has the northstar engine which was a nice upgrade but I am not sure it is worth anymore in an 8 year old boat. In fact I would probably rather not have it because of cost of repairs or replacement if something goes bad.

I don't think I helped make a decision with any of what I said. Honestly I don't think you can go wrong with either as both are good deals that are priced equivalently below what I think they should be worth. The one thing that would be nice about getting the 205 is that you can setup all the add ons exactly how you want them.

That Moomba is the same hull as a newer Outback V, I own a 2007 Moomba LSV way different wake shapes ! I would go with the 205V and put PP in and throw 750's in the rear lockers and a 550 in the bow walkway and have an AWESOME wake !

The Outback V sits really low in the water due to a low free board.

The engine in the 205 is the Indmar with the upgraded North Star ignition only. I had that engine in my last boat, an X30 for 4 years, and it worked like a champ. That’s one clean looking 205.

Jeff, How is your wake compared to a 205v or any other wakeboat that you have been in. I'm looking for a 2006 or newer moomba lsv! Thank's for any input!!!

In 2002 the Outback LSV and Mobius LSV were the same boat according to Moomba's website.

I have the older hull (02 Moomba).. The wake was decent with weight in the boat but nothing like the new hulled Moombas.. For a hard core rider the 205v wake will be much better than the older Moomba wake.. The new Moomba hulls put out a MUCH better wake..

I've literally rode every wake on the main stream boats.. They all have their plus and minus.. The 205v is nice, the new Moomba is nice. The old Moomba takes weight..

I'd get that 205 in the C-list ad. That is a bangin deal on a low hour 205!! Like Paul said, that motor is awesome, the Northstar system really makes a difference on fuel consumption. If I was in your spot I'd be all over that boat. Then again I know the virtues of that hull, its one of the best wake makers there is, it just sucks in rough water or 10 people.

i'm biased for sure, but i'd say the 205V.

like brett said above, aside from the cost, there truly is an upside to adding some of that stuff yourself, including the ballast.

this was my 3rd season with my 03 X-2 and i couldn't be happier with mine.
