Anyone have suggestions for a board for a smaller shorter wake for all people up to say 300lbs??

rlsv211 02-08-2010 9:45 AM

The Walker Project Bazooka. 5'3". Frank has the first one I am sure he will let you know what he thinks.

I know the walker boards are shaped wakesurf specific but is the Gnarley Bra as well?? <BR>Thanks

bac 02-08-2010 10:22 AM

Sid, Rock makes some wakesurf specific boards as well as ocean boards. The Gnarly brah is a wakesurf board

sid7 02-08-2010 10:24 AM

So the Gnarley Brah good for smaller shorter wakes for bigger riders?? Do they have a website? <BR>Thank you for your help!

wofrankwo 02-08-2010 1:11 PM

seems im in a class ( weight ) by myself here .... ive tried alot of boards over 20 in all ... i surfed around 325 lbs with a good size wake .... the walker board i got 5'3" bazooka in my eyes is an amazing board, plenty of float, fast and quick, i can surf on many of the boards but very few where i can actually have my back foot at the back of the board where it should be and the bazooka lets me do this .... by far the fastest board i have been on

sid7 02-08-2010 2:25 PM

Frank, <BR>in your opinion, is there a need to go longer than an 5'3 since my wake is smaller?? Thank u for your input!!

wofrankwo 02-08-2010 2:34 PM

in my opinion its more the width of the board then the length of the board .... the shorter the board seems way funner .... my wieght was 325lbs and for me the longer cruiser style boards were a disappointment for me but again they are not rated for my weight either, i could surf the cruiser boards but my back foot always had to be way forward from the tail .... another good board i tried i liked was the lake wakes board, not nearly as fast or as quick as the walker board but plenty of float and fun and i could get my back foot all the way back

sid7 02-08-2010 2:42 PM

Thank u so much! Does lake wake have more than one board or shape? If so which one worked best for u?

rick rock is one of the best shapers in the world he has shaped for some of the best companies out there, and best riders.

02-08-2010 4:36 PM

<i>"rick rock is one of the best shapers in the world he has shaped for some of the best companies out there, and best riders."</i> <BR> <BR>Which almost guarantees that the boards will suck out loud. <IMG SRC="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":-)" BORDER=0> Rock's shapes are solid, but like TWP and Stretch they are getting feed back from folks that are riding behind the boat. JL and Josh Sleigh provide the guidance that Rock uses to refine his shapes. THAT's incredibly important. <BR> <BR>I've purchased a few boards from world class shapers and had them custom build for behind the boat. There is just a ton of stuff that doesn't translate well behind the boat from the ocean. <BR> <BR>In my experience, and it's almost 100%, if the shaper didn't have boat experience or some connection with wakesurf folks, the boards were junk. <BR> <BR>My 2 cents and a few hundred $'s of purchse "mistakes": don't waste your time or money on a custom built board UNLESS the shaper has boat experience or has some feedback from folks that wakesurf no matter how sterling their credentials.

jdjjamesz 02-08-2010 6:47 PM

jeff nailed it,its all about feedback and if you have a shaper that will work with you and what you want to do behind the boat that will help the most. For me I have stretch ,when im working on some move I tell him what im trying to do and how to get a board to respond to that move and the wake.

bac 02-08-2010 7:50 PM

I'm with ya James, great point Jeff! <BR> <BR>We've had Dave Pearson out behind the boat a few times and he was really into watching things and getting feedback from everyone. It definitely showed from the protos we started with to what he produces now, much more fine tuned for a boats wake <BR> <BR>(Message edited by bac on February 08, 2010)

Jeff, Is the bazooka going to be available from your site? I'm in the same 'class' as Frank and would be interested in checking one out! Thanks.

slimjim44 02-09-2010 8:41 AM

Efrain, Jeff isn't that "Walker". Dennish on here is with The Walker Project. You can PM him for info.

02-09-2010 8:44 AM

LOL - yeah I'm not THAT Walker. <IMG SRC="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":-)" BORDER=0> I swiped this display ad from Mike's Facebook page - sure looks like the Bazooka will be available in 2010: <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/87668/774159.jpg" alt="Upload">

beryessaboarder 02-09-2010 9:06 AM

Woops! Thanks for the heads up!

colombiansurfer 02-09-2010 2:55 PM

I like the looks of Rocks' boards. I have not yet had the pleasure of riding one, because there are no dealers on the East Coast. If anyone knows of a place, close to NC, that sells them, please let me know.

02-09-2010 2:59 PM

LETS HAVE BOARD DEMO MELONES SHOULD HAVE PLENTY OF WATER THIS SPRING, RIDE ALL THE NEW MODELS THAT ARE OUT . I THINK THERE ARE SOME GREAT BOARDS OUT THERE .SO WHAT'S NEW FOR THIS SEASON ? LETS HAVE A SPRING FLING AND FLING SOME FOAM &amp; GO BIG

Thank you guys for all the input!

02-09-2010 3:57 PM

Fling some foam. <IMG SRC="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":-)" BORDER=0> I got a call from Chris Walker offering a 1/2 of the Lower Castaic after a wakeboard event. I thought that would be a great opportunity for a demo day. If anybody is interested in that venue for a 1/2 day, I'll get you in touch with Chris - I believe he was planning on giving the venue use for free, you'd just need to do the USA WB sign ups. <BR> <BR>There is simply NOTHING better than getting a board under foot for determining if it's right for a person. <BR> <BR>Can TWP and the Wake9 crew get behind a spring demo day?

dennish 02-09-2010 4:20 PM

yes to TWP

02-09-2010 4:51 PM

Excellent - Lakewakes? Mark can you send out a demo board - I think that Robert still has your grom. <BR> <BR>Mitch can you work Inland Surfer for a demo or two? Or maybe from your shop? <BR> <BR>Greg Mallek - can you possibly bring a Shred Stixx or two? <BR> <BR>Show, if you read this, could you point Noelle or Corey to the thread, maybe they could send out an Endless Break for demo purposes? <BR> <BR>DJJamesZ could you send over one of your Stretch's? <BR> <BR>TXSurf - can you get in touch with the folks from Props? <BR> <BR>Who else needs to be represented?

02-09-2010 6:02 PM

here is a test shot behind DJ JamesZ updated wake <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/87668/774318.jpg" alt="Upload">

bac 02-09-2010 6:32 PM

Jeff, I'll gladly get in touch with Dave for yall, I'm sure he'd be more than willing to get some boards out yall. I've got a buddy of mine who's in SB who is one of his reps. Probably wouldn't be hard to get him down to yall

wakemitch 02-09-2010 6:44 PM

Jeff, we have demos that you guys could use for sure

jdjjamesz 02-09-2010 7:21 PM

Jl sick shot is that gavin on my wake.

beryessaboarder 02-10-2010 3:24 PM

Spring Demo Day sounds awesome! I will bring my boat and give pulls. lets make it happen!

bac 02-10-2010 6:45 PM

Waiting to hear back from Dave, left him an email and voicemail just to be sure he gets the message. <BR> <BR>Also spoke with my brah who's his CA rep (and also an excellent photographer with a few surf mag credits, thats his main profession, so that could also turn out some nice pics of the event as well). He seemed stoked about the event and seemed more than willing to go wherever to have some fun with some fellow wakesurfers. So I'd be willing to guess at this point Props should be down, however I assume Dave will make the final decision, thankfully he's a super cool, super laid back guy and I don't see any problems. In my opinion, I would say Props should be present (but don't come after me like a lynch mob if they are unable to come through). <BR> <BR>I'll keep things posted as I hear more. <BR> <BR>Also, any idea on the date?

brewkettle 02-10-2010 6:58 PM

what type of weight class of folks will show up to demo, everyone my not be able to ride one size board??

bac 02-10-2010 7:03 PM

I know Dave (of Props) has surfers for anyone, so hopefully he'll be able to provide with an array of his line

wofrankwo 02-10-2010 7:15 PM

if you could get a bunch of people and a bunch of boats to show up you would have to think that between all the surfers there and all their boards along with whatever the manufacturers bring there would have to be just about every make out there in every size to try if everyone shared .... the manufacturers would have hopefully the new models for people to try .... we alone have 5 different boards we could bring

02-10-2010 7:45 PM

We will bring at least 3 models The Gnarley Brah,&amp; Rock's Sickness .Either a Sleigh's Madness Or a Concept Board ,I hope DJ James Z can bring his monster Wave machine along with some Stretch Models I will shoot some stills and video if possible . What type of board do you want the 3rd board to be ? The Concept Module or the Sleigh Model <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/87668/774542.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/87668/774543.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/87668/774544.jpg" alt="Upload">

bac 02-10-2010 7:55 PM

I am absolutely in love with those resin boards JL!

02-11-2010 5:19 AM

I vote for the Sleigh model to be board number 3. <BR> <BR>Frank makes a good point. If we make it informal - everybody bring your boat and boards and allow folks to ride - we'll get more representation from manufacturers. <BR> <BR>I've talked with Calibrated and they'll send us a few boards. I've also had some interest from Roush/Surftech and Shred Stixx. TxSurf indicates we have some interest from Props, too. <BR> <BR>What does everyone think about that plan? Pick a day AFTER April 15 <IMG SRC="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":-)" BORDER=0> but before the end of May and invite everyone we know? <BR> <BR>How does May 8th look for everyone?

bac 02-11-2010 8:04 AM

Jeff, just heard back from Dave, he's game. Should I send him your email so that yall can things worked out

bac 02-11-2010 1:19 PM

While my vote doesn't really count, even though I'd love to be able to be there for this, I say you bring the module JL. I'm a little partial to that one though since I'm so curious to know how it will ride and perform. <BR> <BR>Oh ya, saw your shot on Fuel of Sleigh launchin that SUP, I still love seeing that pic

02-11-2010 3:39 PM

It's up to Rock on the shape .The Module takes a lot of time to shape, the 1st one is in Branson Mo . We will have 2 Poly boards &amp; 1 Epoxy .The Daily Habit footie and photos on fuel were mine

wofrankwo 02-16-2010 7:51 PM

sure hope this big get together doesnt die out .... seems like it would be alot of fun

02-16-2010 8:56 PM

I'm planning on being there with 3 of our models to test out let's keep on it

wofrankwo 02-16-2010 11:00 PM

ill tow my sanger down there any weekend you guys want and ill stay for the weekend as well!!

02-17-2010 7:39 AM

Due to some illnesses in my family, I won't be staging any contests this year and I passed the torch to the Wake9.com crew. They are planning a contest, hopefully in May and asked if we could coordinate the dates of the demo and their contest. If they fell on the same weekend, it would detract from both. Then they suggested that both events be combined into a three day festival, which makes the most sense. <BR> <BR>Right now, I'm waiting to hear back from those folks on a "date certain". <BR> <BR>It looks like we'll have representation of all manufacturers, I know of, except one. <BR> <BR>I'll post up as I get some info from the wake9.com folks. Frank can I count on you for a demo boat for folks?

02-17-2010 12:19 PM

Thanks Jeff, I hope for the best of your family member You have been a big supporter of Wakesurfing Comps they are a lot of work . We can Demo for Wake 9. Looks like A Mobile Demo might be in order. Any So Cal rider's have boat &amp; lake to demo? ,DJ JamesZ April Tulloch Or Melones Sesh?

wofrankwo 02-17-2010 4:42 PM

i will always do whatever i can so we will be there ... wherever and whenever!

gunz 02-18-2010 6:15 AM

Whoa! <BR>Who?What?Where? When? <BR> <BR>I'll talk to Jamesz today about this,(I think his computor is down again)I'm gonna ride some bigger Stretch stuff with him today.

jdjjamesz 02-18-2010 6:16 PM

yeah, I am down that would be fun ,let me know when JL.
