Weighting an SA 350?

Thinking about ordering an SA 350. How are those who own them with the 345 motor weighting your boat?

tyler97217 01-03-2014 1:04 PM

Curious as well. The one I have been on had stock ballast, plug and play ballast, and probably 6-7 people. The wake was very clean and very big... Kind of hoping to run the same and then I have about 400 lbs of lead, I planned on hiding. There is a wakeworld member shane10p that has one and played with it last year. Would be curious to hear from him....

Shane10p 01-03-2014 4:49 PM

I ran a lot of different weight configurations on mine. We mostly ran the boat with 5-6 people full stock and full PNP plus one 540lb sack in the middle this was my favorite weight set up. The wake is extremely forgiving and very clean with that combo. Labor Day weekend we had a "big air" contest with 5 buddies ..... Horrible idea ran the boat full ballast full gas 2 540lbs on the floor 300lbs across the back seat and 650 in the bow. Boat didn't struggle to plane out , and still drove very well. 2 broken boards , 1 ankle and a horrible shoulder dislocation the contest was called a draw . Only thing I have found on the SA is it's seems to ride a bit nose heavy and the wake gets better with weight in the rear overall very easy boat to weight IMO .

redsupralaunch 01-03-2014 5:20 PM

If you take your Mom and Dad, you wont need the extra bag on the floor:D

Ttime41 01-03-2014 9:59 PM

Stock PnP up front and 750's in the rear is how we run ours. Planes out fine even with a lot of people in the boat and the wake is always money!

drive139 01-04-2014 4:23 AM

redsupralaunch I'm sure my mom and dad know they have an open invite to come out any time they want. Time41 where do you run the plate and do you put any extra weight in the bow? Shane10p thank you for your input as well. The only times I have ridden the SA was with about 5500lbs plus 10 people but it had the 550 motor.

I like the wake plate at about 10-20% because it makes the wake a little steeper. Really the wake will stay clean no matter how you adjust the plate, so its all about preference. One thing I did have to do was adjust the smart plate settings so it stays in the 100% position longer while planing, which was super easy to do through the vision system. No extra weight in the bow on our boat, maybe some people here and there. The SA really likes rear wight. In my buddies SA 450 we run 1100's in the rear with stock PnP up front and the wake is unreal. Upgraded factory prop is definitely a must though in the 350 if you want to run it rear heavy.

drive139 01-04-2014 3:53 PM

Awesome thank you for all your input. What prop are you using? Now all I need to do is get my boat sold so I can get the SA ordered.

Ttime41 01-05-2014 12:46 PM

I'm not 100% sure but I believe its the Acme 1235. I know they only give you two options from the factory and our dealer advised us to go with the upgrade if we planned on using additional ballast.

JetRanger 01-05-2014 12:59 PM

The best way to weigh any Supra is put it on the trailer, tow it to your local MC dealer, and trade it on a shiny new X-(anything).

Shane10p 01-05-2014 3:17 PM

JetRanger, I completely agree ! I actually tried to buy this super rad neon orange X-something that was wicked sweet . Unfortunately they wouldn't sell it to me since I couldn't provide proof of 3 tap out shirts , 1 pair of white Oakleys and a tribal tattoo ? What gives I drink cases of rock star ( official drink of the pro tour ) and have hours of house music on my IPod . If you know anyone in the Mastercraft camp could you put in a good word for me ? This SA has no where to mount a stripper pole or store cases of Jell-O shots. Thank you for you potential help .

When Tige copies the XStar maybe you can buy that boy, cause you butt hurt like a Tige owner. Just cause you don't have the hustle and flo to sport a Star on your arm or a harem of hussy doesn't mean you need to hate on me and my white "O"s...

The real reason they wouldn't sell you one is that you lack taste, I mean really, who names a boat "Shock and Awe?"

jonblarc7 01-06-2014 5:38 AM

JetRanger

Have you ever said anything helpful????

JetRanger 01-06-2014 6:39 AM

Jon of arc, since I've come to WW, Mastercraft bashing is down to zero...Tige bashing is up 300%!

jonblarc7 01-06-2014 6:51 AM

The fact is the Op asked for input into how to best weigh a Supra SA 350. I gave my input. Just because you don't agree with me doesn't mean you need to denigrate me in front of all these people you bully! Last time I checked we still had freedom of speech in this county and my grandpa didn't fight for this country in the South Pacific so guys like you could strut around like bantam roosters and push people around, maybe in Obama's 'merica but not Ronald Reagan's!

jonblarc7 01-06-2014 7:41 AM

LOL come on now you started it by talking crap about supra and no you didn't really say the best way to weight a SA350. If you would have said fill it 10,000 pounds of lead and sink it then go buy a master craft that would have been a-little more help. You just said put it on a trailer

Starting the fight then saying your getting bullied sounds a whole lot like Obama's 'merica to me.

JetRanger 01-06-2014 8:01 AM

You are right the 10K worth of lead and sinking the Supra would have been a funnier line of tact.

But you telling me how to write my jokes sounds a lot like Obama's 'merica to me...

The best thing to weigh a Supra with is weight...

tn_rider 01-06-2014 9:10 AM

The weight of some of the egos on here should be more than enough ballast. Geez

Anyways back to the supra. I cant wait to ride behind one of these this summer!!!

drive139 01-06-2014 11:43 AM

Jet Ranger- I specifically asked the best way to weight a Supra SA not which boat should I buy or which boat brand is better. I am going to be buying a Supra SA not a Mastercraft. You seriously need to grow up and getting a life. I'm sure everyone gets some comical relief out of some of your posts but I think we all can agree that most people on here also wish you would just stop responding on here. If you don't have anything of use to the OP then just keep your comments to yourself.

JetRanger 01-06-2014 11:57 AM

Weighting an SA 350?

Another great thing about Mastercraft is that they are not Supra. But I'll give Supra this, at least Supras are not Ti-guhs.

Jet Ranger - I became acquainted with President Regan in my Dad's office before you were born. I assure you that he would be quite annoyed by your actions, as well am I.

In fact, if you had the ability for which I doubt, ever got a chance to represent our great country on Team USA, for which your Honorable Grandfather served our great nation, I would dismiss you from the team and send you packing because of your mouth.

Ronald Reagan would support my right to speak my mind, a right guaranteed to me by the Constitution of the United States of America. He would also support the tenets of free markets, market economics, and social Darwinism. These fundamentals, the one and the same I remind you which created the worlds greatest economy, the ones that you liberals hate so much, dictate variety in the marketplace and speak to the Op's ability to choose the product he wishes. So while you try to take my guns, silence my religion, and socialize my healthcare, while soldiers stand on guard providing the blanket of freedom under which you sleep, you march against this nation and all which it was built upon.
Let the Op decide which boat he wants, and don't stand in my way of helping him choose...!

And kids, stay in school!

Ttime41 01-06-2014 9:32 PM

Only on wakeworld can someone asking how to weight their boat turn into a discussion about what Ronald Reagan would think about jetranger's comments..

Ronald Reagan didn't always wakeboard, but when he did, it was behind a Mastercraft...

Back to the original topic..

My name is Matt and I work for Skiers Choice as a Supra Product Specialist. Based off the experience I've had in the SA I like to run stock ballast with 750's in the rear and plate around 10-20% but it really depends on what you like. I ride at 75' around 22.8mph so that particular setup is perfect for me. You should come by the factory sometime and let me show you around and even better explain how we weight our different models. I personally run the SC450 on my tour around the states and I love it, it is the same shape as the SA but its a little more steep at the top. Again come by anytime and I will show you around the plant and answer any questions you may have.

I wish I lived close by TN. A factory tour would be cool

Shane10p 01-07-2014 10:14 AM

Well maybe a road trip is in order , if I only knew someone who was taking delivery of a new SC .......

tyler97217 01-07-2014 10:16 AM

Shane
Maybe Skiers Choice will fly us out there to document the build of my boat???
