What do people think about this boat for riding behind? What about maintanance and upkeep? Is it a reliable boat for that aspect? Who makes this boat also I tried finding it on NADA to see what the value was but had no luck. Thanks in advance! <BR> <BR>(Message edited by wakeboy01 on May 11, 2009)

Had a '99 Kanga, closed bow version of the outback....good boat, never had any problems with it. I would think an Outback, depending on options and condition, should be in the mid to high teens.

I have a 97 outback. It's my first boat, and it's been great so far. No problems or issues. <BR> <BR>The wake gets decent if you throw a lot of weight in it. Not the best for wake surfing though - even with a lot of weight you don't get a very good pocket to ride in. <BR> <BR>The only other thing to think about is that the boat (especially when weighted) sits fairly low in the water. If you are going to be on a choppy lake, you will have some fun with bouncing around and taking water over the bow. Nothing to serious though, it just takes some practice learning to avoid the big chop. <BR> <BR>Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for the info guys. Yea I do have another question... where do I look up on NADA to see how much it's worth? I couldn't find the maker of the boat on NADA. <BR> <BR>It's solid for wakeboarding though? I'm not pro but I am a bigger guy (6'4" 250 lbs) so I need a solid wake =]

I like Moomba boats, but this vintage Outback will not kick up a big wake. Just didn't respond that well to weight and it is a low riser on the water so there are real limits what you can pack in. I mean the wake is clean and ridable, just not the best.

I have an '08 Outback and I love it. The wake isn't huge, but I also slalom, and its a nice mix of both. Mechanically it has been pretty much flawless for the 115 hours I've put on it in the last year.

I haven't ridden behind many other boats, but mine seems to be large enough to try what ever I want. I've had other riders behind the boat that really know what they are doing, and they can throw inverts and spins without any issues. <BR> <BR>Last summer, I was putting around 1500 lbs in it and it was throwing out a clean wake. Nice smooth ramp, large enough for me. The sweet spot seems to be around the 70' mark, depending on how fast you ride. So if you are used to riding behind a bigger, newer boat at say, 80', you will have to get used to the shorter line length.

I owned a 98 Outback for 3 years. It was a GREAT boat and really sold me on the brand. I have been running Supras ever since cause I like the upgrades. The one I used to ride behind was bought from Chris' dealership. They have nice boats.

I recommend Moomba's to anyone. <BR> <BR>As far as the wake goes though, it was pretty much brutal. We used to joke around that the '99 Outback must have been the best ski boat ever because it seriously had no wake. Still though, I was able to learn my first few inverts off it.
