sorry if this is in the wrong section. would you say ollieing a skateboard was the same as ollieing a wakeskate. cable closed for winter so brought a skateboard to play with. cant ollie it. trying to figure out why. any suggestions would be helpful. thanks

they are different. On a skateboard, you let off the lead foo to smack the tail against the road or concrete, and then slide the lead foot to pull you board and body in a jumping motion. On the wakeskate, its more a rythmic motion with a lean forward to flatten out the deck first, then smacking the tail against the water with your back foot and bringing your knees up. I dont really slide my foot sideways as much as on a skateboard.

The first disc of the Book DVD has a great segment comparing ollies on a skateboard and a wakeskate.

yea ollies are all about shifting your weight from front to back...its pretty much about the timing...just start small and go bigger.

I don't have any instructional videos and have never been wakeskating with anyone else, so I'm just figuring out this sport on my own. I can ollie like maybe a few inches off the water and land it. If I try to pop hard I get maybe six or eight inches off the water but always go flying forward or backwards. Any tips on where my feet should be to start and land the trick?

Spread your feet closer to the tails, roll forward and then smack that back foot down....suck those knees up.
|
.....You're not gonna slide that lead foot forward like a skateboard, it kinda stays in the same place when you land.
