I bought a spectra line and Proline LG Handle this summer. It sinks. When water gets in between the coating and line at the Y between the handle and mainline, it sinks. If I pick it up, squeeze or poor the water out of there, the handle then will float for a bit. Once enough water gets in there, it sinks again. Kind of frustrating. Great handle otherwise. Any ideas?

cwb_fooguitarlz 07-19-2007 11:37 AM

Proline LG still kicks a$$ though. lol

you could make some floats for it

mucktoerider 07-19-2007 12:03 PM

Mine sinks...........love the grip. I was thinking that maybe I would spray that "great stuff" spray foam in between the coating and the line. but I don't know if that would work....or create a big mess. Who wants to try it first?????? I do know from experimentation that spray foam does float.

innov8 07-19-2007 12:14 PM

Yep, not the best floating handle, but I would not trade it for any other handle on the market, love the LG.

stephan 07-19-2007 12:17 PM

Bob, get the Proline Synthesis. Its mo betta in all aspects. Grip, float and sex appeal.

jarrod 07-19-2007 12:27 PM

"but I would not trade it for any other handle on the market, love the LG."

Word....It's the best

mucktoerider 07-19-2007 12:28 PM

Any takers on the spray foam for float!

dlwsrider 07-19-2007 12:34 PM

Scott, i might take you up on it haha.

i have 9 blood blisters on my hands, its not that easy on mine in my opinion.

but i sitll love it

ronnyboy27 07-19-2007 1:12 PM

I can't stand handles that don't float.

o2binvallarta 07-19-2007 1:18 PM

I give mine a good shake in between each rider's set (the handle too). I can live with the sinking handle for as comfortable as it is.

rc005 07-19-2007 1:20 PM

easy with the spray foam it expands.. so do a little at a time

dlwsrider 07-19-2007 1:32 PM

Bill, that made me giggle inside

shanemulleryahoocom 07-19-2007 1:56 PM

well if someone figures it out let me know because I just bought one and am taking out this weekend. Maybe some caulk would work better???

o2binvallarta 07-19-2007 2:08 PM

Yeah, me too!

Before I shot any foam or caulk in anything, I think I'd consider tie wrapping a piece or two of pipe insulation to the "Y" of the handle. I put some caulk in an old non-floating handle and it bled for weeks before it got relinquished to trampoline duty.

Or, what if you put a tie wrap at the bottom of the clear tubing and cinched it real tight, making it harder for the water to get in there...? I might try that.

bp22 07-19-2007 2:54 PM

Mine sinks like a rock, but I love it.

bocephus 07-19-2007 2:55 PM

We scrapped our LG for an Era handle. Era wins for us!

cwb_fooguitarlz 07-19-2007 3:16 PM

i wanna hear about the Proline Synthesis. if it's the handle i'm thinking of it's a little longer than the LG. does it have the same chamois grip?

sorry to hijack

innov8 07-19-2007 3:21 PM

Proline Synthesis Handle

http://www.cwbwakeboards.com/2007/index.php?mod=ropes_detail&id_prd=45&id_he d=5

cwb_fooguitarlz 07-19-2007 3:24 PM

thanks man

innov8 07-19-2007 3:27 PM

No problem I have ridin with it and I do like it, I just cant get rid of the LG I like tooo much, but it is a great handle.

detonate69 07-19-2007 3:32 PM

My LG sinks a little too. But I don't leave it out in the water that long. We pull it in between sets so it's no big deal. I can't give up the comfort I can live with a little sinking.

I did email proline about this and they said that I could send the handle in at my own expense and they would put some different floats on it. I decided to just live with it.

stephan 07-19-2007 3:36 PM

The Synthesis is similar to Accurate's Premier handle with a little softer grip. What I really like about it is the triangle shape of the grip is effortless to hold on to. It just fits my hand. Try it, my whole crew loves it.

innov8, you guys sell Proline SK 5 ft sections in white? I need 3 of em. Let me know.

bhileman 07-19-2007 3:50 PM

one good thing about the LG sinking is if u have a new driver, there is a less chance of them running over the rope

wakeriderixi 07-19-2007 3:58 PM

Why does everyone care if the handle sinks or floats!? You fall, boat turns around you, you grab the line while it is still out of the water, then let the boat pull the line through your hands until the handle hits you. This helps to keep you balanced on the top of your board and allows you to distribute your weight best for the most effective deep water start with the board under the water.

ethan31 07-19-2007 5:04 PM

Paul, its still a pain in the ass.

Mine sinks also! yeah!

07-19-2007 6:45 PM

Mine floats like a cork? Did I get a special one or something?

wakemitch 07-19-2007 8:02 PM

i guess i lucked out, mine floats. but i could care less if it floated or not.

hawk7 07-19-2007 8:14 PM

clear tape over the opening, keeps air in there.

brody 07-19-2007 8:46 PM

I think I am going to get the LG handle and rope combo. It looks really nice. I hope it will float.

(Message edited by brody on July 19, 2007)

mine sinks but i don't care, my dad does, but i love the handle

it does give me calisce(sp?) type things you get after working out, but i love the handle, i rode with my friends ambush/buywake handle today and when i first got up i almost slipped because i wasn't gripping tight enough

my uncle kept showing off the handle and non stretch line to EVERYONE in my family, he was amazed

dabigkahuna 07-19-2007 9:41 PM

I love my LG, but it does sink a bit, which doesn't bother me at all since we turn right around and pick the rider up. I have a saying in my boat actually...if the handle sinks, you aint driving right and you are wasting time and gas! Not to say I power-turn or anyting, it's quite the opposite, I idle back to the rider and idle the boat till the line is tight again. Really, you have to be in neutral for a while for the handle to sink.

chaser 07-20-2007 3:37 AM

I agree that in most cases a handle that sinks slightly is not that big of a deal, especially if you are always pulling experienced riders. But when pulling kids or newbies it would be nice if the handle floated a little more.

redracer2003 07-20-2007 4:05 AM

i agree with Bob T. I get out the floating handle when i have newbies aboard.
