Just made our Memorial Day reservation... Hows the water levels at Oroville? I'm hoping just like Shasta we'll have had most of the same results at Oroville???

The water levels is a good 75 feet plus lower then the tree line, but it is filling in fast. I'll get a picture this week when I'm up there (tues or wed).
Cheers,
DC

Sorry Cali- never been to the "O"...hence sans pics. I just know that site from watching local lake levels and for wishing I could fit in a Shasta trip this year! Damn- fullpool. Here's to hoping Oroville get there as well!

For the past week Oroville has been filling about 2 feet a day. There was an article in the Chico ER today and they said they estimate it to hit about 825ft and then to stay around that level until the end of June thanks to the good snow pack we have this year. The bad news is they still estimate it to get as low as 660 ft again this year which is right around the level we hit last year.

Does any one know what the water temp is right now? we are thinking about heading out to Oroville on Saturday for the first time this year and I am wondering if its trunkable or should we just leave the boards at home.

denystaucd 05-06-2010 6:27 PM

Can't say for the lake, but the north fork flowing into Oroville has been about 48-52 F, the last week. I think the outflow at the base of Oroville dam was at 52-54F 'ish. Could be the cold deep water running out the power house, so the lake could be much warmer for swimming. I trunked the delta at 66 F 2 weeks ago.

Thanks DC. I was on the afterbay last weekend but didnt ride, that water was pretty chilly but it does come out of the bottom of the damn. I will let you know how the water is this weekend. We are planning on getting our first session of the year in.

02Suprassv 05-09-2010 9:31 AM

So Oroville was a chilling 61 degrees but we still rode in it for a little while. If you launch out of lime saddle be prepared for a 15 minute drive in the 5mph zone, they have the house boats so spread out that they go out past the highway 70 bridge.

tp83 05-09-2010 3:53 PM

How was the wind out at lime saddle? we were planning on going to the after bay yesterday but on my way back from sac i stopped by and it looked pretty rough.

02Suprassv 05-09-2010 5:34 PM

We hit the after bay last sunday and it was really windy. Yesterday at lime saddle it wasnt bad at all. once we go out on the lake there were a times when the wind picked up for a little bit but nothing compared to last sunday at the after bay. I think next weekend we are going to go out to black butte and see how thats looking.

joedy530 05-11-2010 5:01 PM

oroville is lookin alot better today it is at 810 ft 90 ft from crest we are hoping for a good year. stop by and say hi on your way through.. oroville cycle

Yo, I've got a houseboat booked for July 10th wknd at Lake Oroville.

Can anyone provide suggestions for a good spot to park the boat? We have another boat for wakeboarding. I'm thinking the south fork, but open to other suggestions.

Thanks!

stephan 06-16-2010 12:41 PM

I was just up there last weekend for the first time. We did most of our riding in the south fork and there were some pretty good spots to park the houseboat. Water is plenty warm. Only beef was the wind was absolutely relentless and thus there was all kinds of debris floating around, we dodged some trees the size of buses. All in all, that is a pretty sweet lake. I'd like to hit it some time when its not windy.

02Suprassv 06-16-2010 3:00 PM

We launched out of Lime saddle and went up the north fork on saturday and sunday and the wind wasnt blowing much up there but the lake does a lot of crap floating in it right now. once the water starts to drop a little hopefully some of that will get caught up on the shore and clear it out a little bit.

seth 06-16-2010 3:45 PM

I was up there with Steve and managed to bend my prop on something. We were dodging stuff all day and hit something that was under water and never even saw what it was.

joedy530 07-07-2010 12:55 PM

most of are customers ride middle fork water is cleaner and there was very little debris..
