Rev 10's and Jl hd 750 (:

I've got one pair of rev 10 powered by a Jl hd 750 on my pontoon boat. All I can say is hot damn..these things are bad ass..the mid bass is crazy I did not expect it at all..watching vids on YouTube do these things no justice..very happy with my speaker and amp choice..can't wait to hit the lake. Also thanks to David @ earmark for suggesting this amp :D

I am running the same setup on my boat. With the boat on the trailer, if i stand 70-100ft back the speakers sound incredible. Truly amazing. However, when I am actually on the water wakeboarding so much of that impressiveness seems to be lost... I can hear the music, but its almost as if all the mid-bass is drown out by my boat exhaust / wind noise.. Anyone else have similar experiences?

I think my boat exhaust is way too loud :(

I still need to fine tune my Rev 10s on my Bu. Sounds really clear but its missing the mid bass..

If you ask me the Rev 10's and 8's won't blow u away or be worth an upgrade if you only want tunes at the end of the line. The old pro series sound just as good. The Rev series however will blow any other HLCD away in the near field while Surfing, chilling or partying. They are absolutely amazing near the boat. Especially compared to my old pro 80's. again tho at the end if the rope I don't notice any difference.

A fresh air exhaust or the Malibu silent rider turn down baffled exhaust tips are the best stereo upgrade for the money. It is absolutely amazing how much more sound you get when you turn down the volume of the boat. I went with the Malibu tips they are not as quiet as the FAE but still a huge improvement. If you don't have a wedge or a switchblade the FAE is the way to go.

xstarrider 12-29-2012 12:39 PM

And I run mine with an FAE

CobraRob 12-29-2012 4:24 PM

Running a pair of Rev410s off 2 of those amps.. KILLER sound.

gti2lo 12-29-2012 4:40 PM

Harold, you got the turn down tips from Bakes?

durty_curt 12-29-2012 5:23 PM

H20 King, how hard was it to install those turned down baffles?

h20king 12-29-2012 5:58 PM

Yeah guys I got the turn downs from Bakes. The install was not bad the hardest part was getting the old ones off. The turn downs are only a three screw mount so you have to drill some new holes for the screws but not a big deal as the flange covers the old ones. All and all it was an easy project and money well spent.

DC,
Where is your hi pass crossover set at for the Rev10's? This will be your mid issue...

zacharoo 12-30-2012 3:36 PM

@cobrarob...I wanted to ask you more about the HD750/1 x2 for your Rev410s. How does a mono amp work with 2 speakers per pod? An internal crossover?

chpthril 12-30-2012 4:01 PM

Zach,

The JL 700/1 is a full-range amp much like a 2 chnl stereo or 4 chnl amp is. It does 750W rms into either a 2 or 4 ohm load, so its works well for a pair of high power HLCD's or a single REV-410.

As stated it's a full range amp. The REV410s have the cross over built in. I have 2 amps 1 for each 410. As simple as connecting + to + and - to - You can then set the crossovers and gains on the amp.

david_e_m 12-30-2012 6:23 PM

Although the HD750/1 is fullrange it has both a high and lowpass electronic crossover. And like any amplifier (2-channel or otherwise) you would run highpass when driving a tower speaker.

Ill say it easier.... Each 410 pod, even though it has 2 speakers and a horn, has 1 +/- 4 ohm terminal on the outside, Thats what matters.. The mono amp is stable from 1.5 to 4 ohms. Running two 410's parrallel, will put a 2 ohm load on the mono 750.1, giving each 410 pod 375 watts... And as stated this mono block is full range with a hipass and a low pass crossover setup... Most mono blocks are strictly sub (lowpass) amps, so make sure to do your homework when looking at mono blocks...

That was an excellent description Truekaotik...Thank you all for the insight!
