Repairing Pool Cleaner Power Supply

The power supply for my pool cleaner (Maytronics Dolphin Diagnostic) blows fuses. This is a basic power supply that converts 110VAC to 24VDC (150W). I opened it up and see nothing obvious with wiring or blown capacitors. I'm thinking the transformer (120VAC to 19.2VAC) has shorted some windings. If so, how do I test it and where would I find a replacement? The fuse is on the hot leg of the 120V input.

Any help?

First thing you should check is the load. How much current is going out of the output? Does it blow a fuse when you have no load? If so, then diconnect the bridge rectifier from the filter and see if it blows. If so then disconnect the bridge rectifier from the xformer and see if it blows. If yes then you may have shorted windings.

Thanks for the reply. It blows with no load. I'll try your suggestions.

Do you know any sources for this transformer? I've called around to a couple electrical supplys and they say the 19.2V output is lower than they carry or are familiar with.

It's the rectifier. Searched the part number and it's pretty common, should be able to find it locally. Thanks for the help.

I am late to the game, but same thing happen to my Jandy - Rectifier it is. Little web search and you are good to go.

Cool! it's nice when the fix is cheap.

Ordered two this morning, $3.80 ea, should be here tomorrow. Saved me over $200 for a new power supply!
