Well i am going to be tidying up my 2000 X-Star a bit this fall..... was looking for some advice. <BR> <BR> <BR>My carpet in the engine area is coming unglued and kind of peeling away. I put some 3M spray adhesive on there and it worked for about a month. Anybody got some ideas on what to use to keep that up there.

I have some carpet in my boat that needs to be re-glued and I was told to use this stuff. The trick to glue is to make sure the surfaces are prepared. Clean off old glue, dust and dirt. Then abrade the surfaces a bit and wipe them with alcohol. That helps any adhesive.

I used Home Depot outdoor carpet glue. <BR>It went on easy with a trowl and I am sure it will last for a long time.

I used this stuff when I re carpeted my 89 TriStar last winter. It's held up really well over the course of this summer. The key, like mentioned before, is to prep the area correctly before using any type of adhesive. <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/507816.jpg" alt="Upload">

How about contact adhesive?

Contact adhesive is fine if it is waterproof. Water is a universal solvent for adhesives. Some are just less affected than others. When you know it's going to spend time wet you've got to use something better than average.

thanks for the reply guys. USed the carpet glue we will c How it holds up. That crap drips everywhere when trying to glue it to the top and around corners. I used the same glue to lay marine grade carpet on our garage floor and we hose it out every other month and two years latter its still sticken like new.
