Now that I have started taking more and more pictures, I bought an external hard drive to store all of my files (videos, pictures, music, etc.).

My question regarding photos is this...I have gone back and forth on how to store them.

Should I make file folders by date?
Should I make files by theme such as family, wakeboarding, animals, etc?
What about large files and smaller files? Sometimes I resize pictures to email people. Should I resize them, email them, and then delete them (only keeping the original file?)

How do you all store your files?

Hey Matt, I store mine by event / theme but I'm getting so many I might have to look at other options. How is the lens working out for you?

For the most part, I have been storing mine by "event" except for family pictures. I kind of have a combination of the 2. Gets confusing though. Just curious what others do.

the lens is working out well so far. I have only gotten out on the boat once which is a bummer, but have been messing with it around the house and when we are out and about. still got a lot to learn, but i like it.
