I have a snap-on cover that was custom made and fits really nice. The problem is that I have to store the boat outside and it's constantly being dumped on by birds/leaves/trees/insects/etc.... I end up having to wash the boat and detail the area left exposed by the cover every time I go out. I've been thinking it would be really, really nice to have a storage cover that covers the entire top of the boat and cinches down below the rubrail. My friend with an X-Star has one like this and it makes a lot of sense.

Can my current cover be modified to work this way?
What should I expect to pay for this to happen?
Any downsides to converting my current cover?

Can my current cover be modified to work this way? - I've never heard of it, but I suppose anything is possible.

What should I expect to pay for this to happen? - You'd have to get an estimate from a local shop. Best rates are typically in the off season.

Any downsides to converting my current cover? - Seems like it would be a royal PITA to put on the boat.

I added 3 foot sunbrella skirting to my existing cover to protect the entire boat from the sun.

Cost was around $200 ( includign shipping)

www.skiboatcovers.com

+1 for skiboatcovers.com. Best price I could find on Sunbrella & he'll custom make tower cutouts or skirting if you want.
