I'm moving to Orlando for next fall and either going to UCF or Valencia. Anyone know of anybody that needs a room mate that rides quite a bit?

sidekicknicholas 03-25-2009 2:18 AM

how far are you willing to commute?

jswake 03-25-2009 10:48 AM

Prob around 20 min. I just want to be decently close to riding. How far out are you?

sidekicknicholas 03-25-2009 11:03 AM

Maybe check out winter haven - its like 40 min for Orlando, but only about 15 min from Lakeland which has USF.... tons of people ride there... plus you're out of the hustle and bustle of the city, unless you like that.

2 cables within an hour, tons of pros to ride with in the area/other people with boats... super cool town.

behindtheboat 03-25-2009 11:19 AM

FSC is in Lakeland

jswake 03-25-2009 11:41 AM

I just got accepted to FSC and have been looking at it however I think they require you to live on campus the first year which wouldn't be so cool because it doesnt have that many students. I have been looking into winter haven though as well.

raftisland 03-25-2009 11:47 AM

most colleges are going to make you live on campus your first year anywhere. they say one year you must live on campus but you can move off campus after your first quarter or semester.

behindtheboat 03-25-2009 11:51 AM

Jballa,

FSC is a Baptist school, so yes, you will most likely have to live on campus. But, the campus is right on the lake, and EVERYONE lives on campus, and interacts. To be honest, if you're good on the water, well, the sororities over look the lake ;)... and they are girls from all over the nation.

jswake 03-25-2009 12:00 PM

hahahaha touche A-dub. Does anyone know how often you are able to ride there though? The other great thing about FSC is that its really close to OWC

dlwsrider 03-25-2009 12:39 PM

You getting any scholarships? I wanted to go to UCF for their "marketing Program", but there was no way I could afford it.

sidekicknicholas 03-25-2009 1:39 PM

^^ FL schools are dirt cheap once you're a resident... its nuts.

Go down, hang-out/work/wakeboard for a year... then pay like $90 a credit for in-state tuition ... I honestly don't know where it is cheaper in the U.S.

behindtheboat 03-25-2009 1:48 PM

FSC is in Lakeland, which is right outside of Tampa really. You'd be right near McCormicks, and the Tampa cable park would be closer than OWC. The waterski team skis everyday, and there are plenty of wakeboarders there as well.

dlwsrider 03-25-2009 2:09 PM

Dang, that's crazy.

I'm going to University of Arkansas in the fall, and it's going to be around $13,000 total for in-state.

sidekicknicholas 03-25-2009 2:32 PM

Yeah, in Wisco here for in state it is $290 a credit.... like 10,000 a year in tuition

jswake 03-25-2009 3:24 PM

I plan on going there just to be a resident and then go to ucf I think. Although my parents are paying for it I feel bad making them pay that much and am thinking about just going to a community college somewhere down there and getting alot of riding in.

sidekicknicholas 03-25-2009 3:29 PM

That what I was going to do... do a ComCollege until I was a resident... save a little money that way

jswake 03-25-2009 3:31 PM

was? why are you in wisco

sidekicknicholas 03-25-2009 3:35 PM

I did a 4 months down there two winter ago while I did online classes (general crap at my current school) and getting in-state tuition ... but parents were not feeling it and kind of gave me a cutoff warning, so I came back. Then did another 6 weeks this winter and came back...

Oh well, I graduate in 3/4 semesters so I'll just hopefully move down there after... I'll still be sorta young. I also got engaged so I can't really just leave her behind here and go down there..... ugg, life as a grown up.

jswake 03-25-2009 3:43 PM

lame! and haha life as a grown up... im going peter pan on this ish and never growing up.

sidekicknicholas 03-25-2009 3:48 PM

^ wouldn't it be nice...
21 and I feel washed up, this sport is depressing

jswake 03-25-2009 3:52 PM

hahaha im sure your extremely washed up

lfxstar 03-25-2009 3:53 PM

Nick, wait till you get to 23
I have a hard time walking up the stairs to my apartment lol

sidekicknicholas 03-25-2009 3:58 PM

I know that game... haha.

4 flights of stairs to math today, I had to just sit and breathe for like 5 min.... its aweful.

I rememeber when I could take like three, 30/40 min set just go go go the whole time and want more.... now its 15 min and I'm just huffin and puffin.

iamnathanhudson 03-26-2009 12:46 PM

And then 29 happens and you realize this is the last year in your twenties, hangovers come later the next day and from drinking far less, and your body is falling apart!!!!

iamnathanhudson 03-26-2009 12:52 PM

It's not really that bad, I'm in school at Full Sail and love it. Florida weather isn't too shabby either.

fly135 03-26-2009 1:46 PM
