Pop!!

Hey, I've been riding for 2 years now but this is my 1st year behind a boat. I'm having trouble timing or getting the pop down. Please let me know what I should do to get a better pop. I'm also riding behind a jet boat and from what I read the wake sucks lol.. I doubt it's the wake that's not letting me pop. Probably my timing and form. Thanks in advance!!

Keep your legs locked stand tall! You will get more air.

Learn to stand taller when you cut in and try starting from 5 feet out from the wake and cutting all the way through. It's not how long the cut is or how much speed you carry through the cut but how much you have at the peak. Go 5 feet out and lock your knees slightly bent and cut through the wake like it isn't there.

Thanks guys! Don't I need to extend my legs at the peak of the wake? So if I hold my edge with a slight bent knees (cutting the wake like it's not there) when do I extend me legs to get even higher? Do I wait for that little PoP feeling then extend right after it?

No cut completely through the wake with your legs locked straight,if your knees are bent they absorb the energy from the wake like a shock absorber on a car.

I see a lot of riders hold a seated position and right before the wake they extend or start to stand tall. Do I push down hard on my legs to extend them or am I suppose to stand up tall more like jumping motion? I had a few pops where I can actually feel the force of the wake. Will I feel that pop only with my lead foot or should I be feeling the pop with both legs? Thank you!

RELAX2K1 it's just like a trampoline or a diving board. The straighter and stiffer your whole body is at and through the wake the better the reaction[pop].You tighten your gleuts, quads and push your chest to the sky. This will produce a standing tall posture.Try this at a 5 ft cut over 1 wake to get the feel for it and concentrate on staying on edge through the second wake.Once you build your confidence start trying to clear the wake on a shorter rope till you get comfortable with the technique.Good Luck!

Drink a whole lot of Dr. Pepper and Coke before you get on the water.

It's ok to come into the wake with your knees slightly bent, but like everyone else said, it is the standing up tall at the wake that gives you the pop. Also, making sure you ride all the way to the top of the wake before standing tall is KEY. I don't want to offend anyone here and maybe this is just my personal opinion, but I would keep your legs locked all the way into the wake and through it. Yes knees bent absorbs the wake, but the slightly crouched position while carving into the wake and THEN standing tall at the peak is what gives you the most pop.

Pull the rope into your waist, in addition to all the other advice
