I have been using a liquid force inlander 5'4. I would like to switch to a board that will allow me to do some tricks. I'm 6'1 190lbs. any suggestions?

riverrunner 07-09-2007 7:40 AM

If you want a good all around board that you can cruise and do tricks on, Phase5 Oogle

tmb 07-10-2007 7:31 PM

Thanks for the response. I've read that the oogle isn't very durable. Have you had the same experience?

what do you guys think about the IS Yellow?

It's difficult to make a decision with so many choices!

smedman 07-10-2007 11:39 PM

There are lots of good boards out there.

Walker Project
Phase 5
Walzer
Shred Stixx
Inland Surfer

I have a Walzer and IS Yellow and like them both!

Todd, I don't think you've given us enough info to hone in on a recommendation. What sort of tricks did you want to learn? Aerials? Shuvs? Do you have a skate background? Did you want to be able to walk in to a store and buy it, or do you mind ordering and waiting? What about storage in a standard rack? Are graphics important? Is cost a major concern? Paint a picture of what the perfect board, for you, would look like and what you'd like to learn on that board.

I want a good looking board that I don't have to wait the entire summer to get. Cost is not an object, but, I was hoping to find something in the $400 range. I would like to find a good all around board, if that is possible. Does this help?

My recommendation would be a Walzer Alpha - Large, 1" thick and ask for the thruster configuration. Decent resin smear graphics, $375 price, certainly high performance and with the flexibility of the three fin configuration you can remove the two side bites if you decide you want to learn shuv-based tricks. IMO, good all around board, with flexibility and fits into your price range.

https://generalstore.wakeoutlaws.com/itemdetail.php?item_id=IZ1177984793I46369f19602a9

My recommendation would be a phase 5 board or the Ja Mako board from shred stixx

riverrunner 07-16-2007 8:45 AM

Where are you located? I can put you on some boards to demo.

tmb 07-16-2007 3:57 PM

Ken
I'm in Ft. Wayne, Indiana

riverrunner 07-17-2007 12:20 PM

I can't help you out but, maybe someone else can.

I have access to a stack of boards if anyone wants to demo something in the Texas area.

04gravitygames 07-17-2007 2:42 PM

WHERE IN TX KEN

riverrunner 07-17-2007 3:16 PM

Houston but, we are all over.

tmills 07-17-2007 3:39 PM

You mentioned the Phase 5 not being durable.. I have had mine for almost 2 years..no issues. Everyone loves it ( I am 210 -220lbs..depending on breakfast!)

tmb 07-17-2007 6:44 PM

thanks for all the feedback. I just ordered a Walzer Alpha. I should have it by the 27th!

trash4life 07-19-2007 9:58 AM

You'll love it. I just got my Walzer a few weeks ago and I'm having a blast. That thing is so light and boyant it'll blow your mind. It's extremelty fast as well. I'm still getting used to how loose it feels but I can tell that I've got tons of room to grow with it. I could tell I wasn't getting any better on my old board but now I'm almost there on 3's and airs. Enjoy it!

tmb 07-19-2007 12:53 PM

I can't wait. What colors did you get? I ordered the royal blue and white.

trash4life 07-19-2007 1:00 PM

Yellow and black

locwakeoutlawscom 07-19-2007 1:33 PM

That board is hot! ;)

trash4life 07-19-2007 3:23 PM

Does it look familiar Loc? Maybe cause you have the same color?

tmb 07-26-2007 7:04 AM

I'm a little nervous! I ordered this board through Sean Ward "caskimmer". He said the board would be here by the 27th but I haven't heard a peep since I paid him on Monday. I have sent numerous emails but have not heard a response. Anyone here heard from him lately?

deuce 07-26-2007 7:30 AM

It is not even the 27th yet? Don't start to worry until the 28th.

I don't think you have anything to worry about.

smedman 07-26-2007 8:23 AM

Todd - Sean will get you the board. He sometimes "goes dark" for a few days, but he always re-appears.

critter 07-26-2007 12:33 PM

I know for a fact he won't take your money and run. If it's worth anything, I tried to get a new board made for me and they told me they are over 2 weeks back up. Don't worry it will come and the wait will be worth it.

tmb 07-31-2007 4:43 PM

Sean didn't bail! We ran into some issues with shipping, etc.. so I didn't receive the board when promised but Sean is trying to make things right. It was shipped yesterday so I should have it anytime. cant wait
