Good place to find used Indmar engine?

Found a 2001 X-Star that needs a new (used) engine. Anyone happen to have one laying around? Or know of a good place to look for one? It's the 310hp 350/5.7 LTR VRS. I wouldn't mind finding the 330hp version though. Anything that bolts on without too much trouble would be fine.

Does it need a complete engine or is it just the block that needs to be replaced?

Without researching anything as far as compatibility is concerned, a quick search on Ebay I found this 2005 5.7 for a smokin good deal! You could easily swap over your intake assy, etc and make it work...

The pictures on that one show a lot of rust and corrosion if you look closely you can see that it looks like it has been painted. A 2005 engine with low hours that had been taken care of shouldn't show corrosion and rust like that IMO.

Any Chevy block with your parts will do it I believe.

He needs a lot more than just the block. There are pics of the engine on the teamtalk. That thing is shot

JASPER engines sir. They come with an 18-month warranty too.

So Sander,
Have you figured out exactly what happened to it to destroy the whole engine like it did?

until you tear it down you won't know what all you need.

As you've been told you need a bobtail. a complete engine.

I *think* (will have to check) that most engine parts outside the block and manifolds and risers are OK so they can be used again.
No idea what they did to it. I didn't talk to the owner but an employee, who kind of claimed that nothing happened. Yeah, weird, I know.
So, bftskir, who are you on CCFan?! (Cool profile pic btw:)

I'm the one who pointed out the bent push rod which was clear evidence that it was rotating when the engine had a failure. How the exh manifolds opened up like ripe melons I have no idea but suspect salt water. It looked like salt had eaten the intake manifold which then leaked water into the cylinders and caused something to seize/boom. I bet it was then left parked for the 5 years and the salt water in the engine disolved it.
