I vote Bob Sichel's Indy Temper Tantrum, or maybe Dean Smith's step up hb7. Gotta say though, Ruck was definitely a contender. Not a clear winner IMO

captain_vilfo 11-24-2011 5:29 PM

WOW ive never seen a temper tantrum before, those look so cool. That double mute roll2revert was so clean as well... I would have a hard time picking a definitive move but all in all id have to say the w2w hs bs 10 by harley. No one has even come close to that even off a double up and he pulled that clean. All the other moves have been done before and quite frankly just dont do it for me like the hs bs 10

Uhhhhhhh...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0g7BdUT_7U
Looks pretty close to me, and it was in 2009.

I personally would have voted for Sichel as well, that temper tantrum looked pretty darn clean relative to some of the other double flips.

lfadam 11-24-2011 5:48 PM

I had really high expectations so I was expecting a lot. There are some sick tricks in there, but I think last year's video impressed me more. I love the grabbed double inverts, but I just cant go crazy over the cable/kicker tricks in there. If the 515 or Adam Errington Trick or Dum Dum 5 were done off the wake/off the double up I would wet my pants. Same with the pool tricks...seems kind of gimmicky to me. Its just doing a kicker trick with slightly less hang time. Im sure its harder, but I just see a kicker mute mobe/BS 5/BS 7. Awesome stuff, but Id give it to Harley for his w2w BS 1080 or Harf's grabbed Temper Tantrum...it looks like that was off the wake too! Thats insane if it was sans double up.

So pumped to finally see this video. Definitely awesome

mckenna 11-24-2011 7:37 PM

i really hope we havent just seen all the biggest hammers from defy.

hockeysk8er222 11-24-2011 8:44 PM

^^^ That's exactly what I was thinking...

TheHebrewHammer 11-24-2011 9:11 PM

Ya man, some weak tricks in there compared to last year, but still impressive. Parks had the gnarliest trick. That double mobe is insane! I think Harley shoulda won because the double mobe is old.

captain_vilfo 11-25-2011 12:03 AM

ben that was wrapped and ole aka not handle pass hs bs 1080, completely different trick

benjaminp 11-25-2011 8:00 PM

I dont see any ole in there.

captain_vilfo 11-26-2011 7:32 AM

no sh*t im referring to the other one he pulled as well

benjaminp 11-26-2011 10:38 AM

Easy man, I'm just using this video as an example. I think its pretty close, but I guess thats just my opinion.

Bill_Dad 11-26-2011 1:00 PM

tricks

I know both Phillip and Harley have done dum dum 5 of the wake, double flips seem to be the way things are going, lets see what next year brings

xstarrider 11-26-2011 9:27 PM

I too think the tricks off the wake are just in a different ball game. I am not hating on parks just totally different deal. The line/ handle at a park can't even be in same league as an 80ft'r behind the boat.

TheHebrewHammer 11-27-2011 9:27 AM

You have to be a man to ride boat. I mostly ride cable now, and every time I get behind a sacked-out Nautique at 25 mph, I remember how scary it really is to charge a wake like that.

hawkeye7708 11-27-2011 9:50 AM

I'd agree with the Defy statement. I hope there's still a few hammers hidden in there. Some epic tricks in there. Rusty's double was STOMPED. Not the biggest, but holy cow. He just put that down like it was nothing!

captain_vilfo 11-27-2011 10:24 AM

was harfs temper tantrum off a double up? I cant tell

lfadam 11-27-2011 11:06 AM

Bill_Dad,
Why werent they entered?! I remember seeing Harley try a Dum Dum 5 a few years ago but he didnt land it. If either one of them did I feel like that would have a great shot at winning MOY. Thats insane! A frontroll with a TS BS 5...there are only a few guys who can even do TS BS 5s and then youre adding an invert. Crazy trick. I want to see it!

austin 11-27-2011 1:26 PM

Glad to finally see the tricks. I agree with everyone scratching their heads over the winner. I realize it's subjective, but there are at least three or more tricks I would have picked over the one that won. I would have even preferred the Dum Dum 540--though I really think cable/kickers should be a separate category from wake tricks. My favorites would have to be second place to Jeff's mute double roll 180, and I would give first place to Rusty's stalefish double backroll because it looks so sick and clean. I miss seeing another osmosis trick from Rathy.

fullspeed 11-27-2011 3:48 PM

Wow....Incredible tricks. All of them. Great post. Thanks.

skiboarder 11-28-2011 7:43 AM

has this been taken down? I can't see anything.

flydenrict 11-28-2011 9:05 AM

yeah i dont see it either, what was the original source?

Cisco 11-28-2011 9:19 AM

That's strange. It still works fine for me. Try clicking twice or go to http://wakeboardingmag.com/videos/20...e-year-videos/

A sacked out Natique needs at least 26.5mph to clean up on both sides..

I can't see it in Internet Explorer but I can see it using Google Chrome.

jhuff79 11-28-2011 11:37 AM

My vote is for Jeff. Rusty's would be a close 2nd I think.

I beg to differ

yeahhh 11-28-2011 3:36 PM

wow, temper tantrum, are you REALLY naming it that. wakeboarding will never be saved..

benjaminp 11-28-2011 4:15 PM

We arent, pretty sure Parks did.

TheHebrewHammer 11-28-2011 4:25 PM

lol, yes, it was Parks who named it that

yeahhh 11-29-2011 1:51 PM

wow, i wish parks and shane didn't name so many tricks.. when they were 16..

waterdork88 11-30-2011 8:38 PM

<iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/26486886?title=0&amp;byline=0&amp;portrait=0" width="400" height="225" frameborder="0" webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen></iframe><p><a href="http://vimeo.com/26486886">Frederic Von Osten Wrapped KGB 7</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/gfagien">Geoff Fagien</a> on <a href="http://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a>.</p> It wasn't a nomination... but had it been, it would have been my choice for the win

Cisco 11-30-2011 9:43 PM

That's AMAZING!!!

I'm pretty sure he is the first to land that. I think saw Murray trying it in the crash section of All or Nothing. Definitely historic footage!

This trick could not have been nominated if it was a fake contest. Like I said before "you will notice that searching google will NOT find a 2011 deadline for this contest, nor will searching tagged articles for "Oakley Move of the Year" on WBM's website.

Was this a real contest? Why was no deadline shared publicly?"

And besides bragging rights...

What did Ruck win??????

captain_vilfo 12-01-2011 8:14 AM

WOW that KGB was sick! literally looked like a helicopter the way he was spinning lol I still think anything off of a kicker shouldnt win it..

TheHebrewHammer 12-01-2011 9:01 AM

That KGB 7 is sick, but I think Tom Fooshee's Pete 7 from 2010 was better because it was switch and not wrapped.

yeahhh 12-01-2011 9:18 AM

Cisco im sure everyone in the industry knows who to get it to and when. its no secret, the wakeboarding world is just so small its easy to have the riders submit what they want.

Cisco 12-01-2011 3:28 PM

Actually, both the method of entry and the deadline were not posted online, so it was a secret to everyone on the internet. Last year WBM posted on their website the deadline and a formal request for entries. This year they didn't say 'boo'.

Since WBM did not use the internet to ask for requests in 2011, like they did 2010, it was not a fair opportunity for everyone who isn't a pro living in Orlando or Clermont. To keep something off the internet is the same as hiding something.

The internet shows us Oakley's MOY 2011 had:

no advertised deadline
no request for entries
no information on how to enter
no mention of a prize

So how is this even considered a fair contest when Frederic Von Osten had his KGB7 on the internet last July? Parks nailed his super clean double mobe on September 4, 2011 and his entry was still accepted. Frederic must have been before the deadline because his trick was landed before Parks'.

A KGB7 is a CRAZY trick!! It sounds like trampoline talk. That is a HUGE progression for wakeboarding! In all my complaining I don't want to lose sight of that. Still though. How is a KGB7 not even recognized in this contest when Parks already landed that trick before? Just like Randall has done a massive Mute HF7 before.

Was MOY an "invitational" contest?

waterdork88 12-01-2011 6:52 PM

I don't think Frederick sent it in, he just did it to do it.

Cisco 12-02-2011 6:42 AM

How could he even know how send it in?

TheHebrewHammer 12-02-2011 7:09 AM

If he really wanted to submit it, he would've. You've been worrying about no-name guys getting lost in the shuffle. Freddy isn't a no-name guy. Everybody knows Freddy.

Bill_Dad 12-02-2011 10:16 PM

tricks

i dont think it was any secret about trick of the year, so they didnt put up a closing time, and those that wanted to could submit their entries, Cisco who do you know that couldnt get their entry submitted. Maybe fred didnt want to submit it, !!!!! KGB7 of the kicker is pretty cool trick there is no denying that, so what about harleys back mobe 7 w2w, or for that matter hsbs1080 w2w, there has been some pretty cool tricks go down in the last 12 months, i really think they should offer 2 different categories, one for cable and the other for boat, otherwise there will always be this division about boat and cable. Which is better, harder and so on.
Rucks mute back mobe into the pool was pretty cool, with alot more of danger element to it.
The judges decided and thats that!!!!!!!
Look out next year lets see what happens maybe a ts12 w2w or tsbs1080 of the double up. or maybe a double flip variation!!!!!!!!

TheHebrewHammer 12-02-2011 11:28 PM

Back mobe 7? Where can I see this?

Cisco 12-03-2011 6:41 AM

<iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/15146879?portrait=0" width="700" height="525" frameborder="0" webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen></iframe>

Dear Bill, I really appreciate your input on this forum! Thanks so much for always bringing insider news to us regular Joes.

captain_vilfo 12-03-2011 8:40 AM

lol so harleys already landed one of those im guessing..

or just workin on them

TheHebrewHammer 12-03-2011 9:11 AM

Oh ya, I forgot about that. I've seen it a million times.

Bill_Dad 12-03-2011 3:15 PM

w2w

that one was from the double or nothing contest, Harley also landed a w2w nose grab back mobe 7, it is on film somewhere, maybe youtube, i just cant remember.
Trust me Cisco im only a mushroom, they keep me in the dark and feed me on bull**** hahaha

Cisco 12-03-2011 3:57 PM

;)

stepintoliquid 12-06-2011 11:08 AM

Every trick looks like something I tried on Shaun Murray's Pro Wakeboarder back in the day! (Without the rope of course, then I had the rope thrown back to me.) haha

VinnyA 12-18-2011 4:07 PM

Rucks trick almost looked like he threw the handle from his right to his left hand. like he let go and kind of did an osmosis? am i wrong for thinking that?

TheHebrewHammer 12-18-2011 9:28 PM

If you watch slowmo vids of Harley, or almost any pro rider in fact, you'll see that they don't always pass palm to palm when they're spinning really fast. Sometimes they throw the handle a few inches from one hand to the other. Osmosis tricks are a completely different animal.
