Inland Surfer ooze vs keenan pro

Ok I know the keenan is top level and has carbon in it, but the reason I am asking to compare, as they are similar in dimensions and design. The ooze is about 100 to 150 bucks cheaper. Anyone have thoughts on this?

The Ooze and the Keenan are the same shape, but the difference is in how they are made. The Keenan is built like the flyboy, making it much lighter and much more lively. This also makes it have a much better feel on the water as well as makes it much more responsive.

For that price difference the only reason to get the Ooze would be if you needed to use 2 or 3 fins for some reason. Otherwise, the Keenan is a much better board.

is there any differenece in speed? Since the keenan is lighter, does it not ride as deep in the water?

wakemitch 03-22-2012 11:15 AM

It is a little bit faster, but in my opinion they both are not very fast for skims. A lot of people like that though since it makes them feel more stable.

CarFanatic5 03-22-2012 11:20 AM

what skims are faster? I have a squirt, which we use to teach beginners and it is skim like and its pretty fast. I've also been looking at the phaze 5 diamond

wakemitch 03-22-2012 11:26 AM

The Phase 5 Diamond is one of the fastest skims. The wide tail makes it sit higher and ride faster. The advantage of the Keenan versus the Diamond is that the Keenan feels much more lively due to its construction. Full carbon boards like the Danielo Pro Model and Diamond are very stiff which is good, but they tend to feel a little lifeless because of it. That is totally personal preference, but feel of a board is big to me.

what would be better for spins and shuv its? 170lbs 5 10

wakemitch 03-22-2012 12:46 PM

You are boarderline for the Keenan. The 51" Diamond would fit you better.

They will both shuv and spin great

CarFanatic5 03-22-2012 12:54 PM

is't the 51 the same length as the keenan? 4.25?

what about the Danello pro vs the diamond? Any info there?

wakemitch 03-22-2012 1:36 PM

The diamond tail on the Danielo Diamond gives it more surface area which allows a larger person to ride it than a traditional pin tail of the same size. So if you want to ride a 51" at 170lbs than you are better off with a swallow or diamond tail 51" board.

The Danielo Pro Carbon is a better comparison to the Keenan since they are both pin tail boards. The Pro Carbon is the same construction as the Diamond, but it has a pin tail. I would recommend the 54" Pro Carbon if you were going the pin tail route.

CarFanatic5 03-22-2012 1:38 PM

mitch whats the advantage of the pin tails?

wakemitch 03-22-2012 1:54 PM

It sits deeper for stability and pivots easier rail to rail.

CarFanatic5 03-22-2012 1:58 PM

so pin tail is better for spins? Vs the diamond tail?

so if I'm 170 5 10 what would be the best board for spins and shuvits. keenan, diamond, or pro?

wakemitch 03-22-2012 2:19 PM

I would rule out the Keenan for you right off the bat since it's only offered in one size which is too small.

Pin Tail vs Diamond Tail is strictly personal preference. One is not better than the other.

The 51" Diamond or 54" Pro Carbon would be great choices for you. Because you can go with the smaller board with the diamond I would recommend the diamond danielo 51" over the 54" Pro Carbon. The smaller board will spin better.

ok, thanks mitch. I know you sell these boards can you pm me a price on the diamond
