I just finished my 30 day demo with Premier Pro. While it is a wonderful application, I can't really justify the cost right now.

I do however want to find something affordable that can change aspect ratios. I have a lot of footage in both 4:3 and 16:9. I prefer the final project in 16:9 letterbox so it can be widescreen even on a 4:3 TV. In Prem Pro it was a matter of changing the horizontal and or vertical scaling; then black bars would be added in to the rest.

Do any of you have editing software that can do this?? Thanks for any help.

Avid has a free program called avid free dv. go to avid.com and search free dv or free avid dv. This is not a trial. If you get this program it is the same as Avid express it just has some of the effects greyed out and you only get two tracks of video and two track of audio. If you like it then you can buy a code to upgrade to a full version. Like I said before this is not a trial. Once you put it on your computer you can keep it as long as you want. Avid blows premier away. www.avid.com
And if you have a mac I would look into Final Cut Pro 4.
www.pendelum.com
www.azwakesports.com
