"Photo credit: Greater Vallejo Recreation District"

??

bradlovellphotography 08-05-2009 6:52 PM

I think we all need to comment and tell them they need to correct the "Photo Credit"

I'd be upset if they stole one of my shots without my permission. I'd give them a few options or pursue my own.

bac 08-05-2009 10:31 PM

There's at least one more with his watermark in the slideshow. The other two could have cropped them out.

Rather ballsy thing to do in my opinion, but I've seen it happen before.

scott_a 08-06-2009 2:29 AM

DPC has a photo in there, too...

dcervenka 08-07-2009 12:15 AM

Awesome!

Comments.. good idea. Let's get this copyright party started!

You don't need to register to comment.. ha! wild wild west! enjoy kids!

dave23 08-09-2009 4:42 PM

It looks like the comments worked and then they deleted them. Scagliotti is now given credit for the photo.

wakedad33 08-09-2009 5:31 PM

I would rather get money Did Dave Cervenka get his credit?

steezyshots 08-10-2009 7:20 AM

If they didn't ask you for the photo and used it anyways it doesn't matter about the credit. Send them a bill, they will pay.

wakeripper 08-10-2009 12:25 PM

What is the best way to deal with a situation like that? I've had it happen a few times...sometimes they pay, sometimes they end up giving photo credits because "sorry sir we don't have a budget for photos"...blah blah blah

steezyshots 08-10-2009 12:37 PM

Send them an invoice, you could take it all the way to court, it depends on how much work you want to put into it.

wakeworld 08-10-2009 12:41 PM

Dude, don't take me to court. I bought you a $7 burger and three beers the other night. I think that's more than fair!!

redv215 08-10-2009 11:17 PM

How much would you charge them? I would have no idea what is fair or reasonable.

scott_a 08-11-2009 2:14 AM

'fair or reasonable' went out the window when they decided to steal your image and use it for their own benefit...

dcervenka 08-11-2009 10:23 AM

"I bought you a $7 burger and three beers the other night." - That sounds like a date and not a payment for services..

steezyshots 08-11-2009 12:21 PM

A cheap date!

wakeripper 08-11-2009 12:31 PM

Hey i'm not that cheap...lol Thanks Dave!!!!

I know you just bought me those beers so i wouldn't sue for the broken leg

coldlake 08-14-2009 9:46 AM

I would be seriously interested in group comments on how much to invoice for. Every photographer that fights this does a service not only to himself but to the community of amateurs and pros. This community has a right to protect their work product. Music industry has RIAA to do it for them. SEND AN INVOICE !!

To those asking how much a stolen photo could be worth...

<!-quote-!>quote:
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Twitter user and social media guru Joe Neale snapped a photo of police cars outside Waterloo train station. He posted it on Twitpic. Sky News editors spotted the photo and used it with their story, crediting it to "Joe on Twitter." Neale says Sky didn't ask permission, and he decided to bill the site £326.24 (about US$538) for use of his picture.<!-/quote-!>

And Sky News is paying up.

Full article here: http://www.pdnpulse.com/2009/08/twitter-photographer-asks-sky-news-to-pay-up.html
