Whoops!! Realized I was in the wrong section just now. Well, its still a valid question...and if Dave wants to move it, that's cool too!

Has anybody tried taking their skate out in the snow/ice? I know they have those snowskates out now...I'm wondering if this would be pretty similar.

Unless it great powder, I'd have to take off the fins of course. But otherwise it seems like it should function pretty well.

(Message edited by sloshake on January 26, 2004)

With no metal edge I doubt it will work very good. Unless you want to go straight down out of control.

The thing is with a lot of the snowskates there really isn't enuff sidecut for you to carve, and most of them (except for Burton Junkyards) or at least that I know of, don't have metal edges. The other thing is that most of them are too narrow with your feet hanging off, another reason you can't really carve with them. Or I know at least with my primeire Nic Droz skate I can't carve I usually end up pivoting or ("tic tacing" like on a skateboard)when I need to turn. I'd say go for it, I wouldn't do it on ice tho jus cause you might scrape up the bottom of your wakeskate an if you do do it I'd jus take it out to your backyard and see how it goes. Let us know if you try it. Good luck and have fun

Thanks. I may not try it then with the fear of the ice scraping it. Prefer to save it for water.

Actually done a fair bit.It really trash's your skate and as other people have mentioned it's hard to control but with just the right depth of powder I can actually shred it pretty good doing some good carves just like a snowboard.Hardpack is good for shuv-its and spins. Here's a pic of me on a rail. This was first time trying it about a month ago.
