Well since dftr all ready posted this ill share it as well.
AND it begins... I can't wait to see this MB in person!
Any changes for 2013. Metal flake looks bad arse
Soo stoked to ride that thing!!
Ok it has a transom and platform thanx. Metal flake too! Game changer!
What's so special about this boat? Looks like a normal MB?
Maybe it's just owners goggles... It's nothing different then any other new 2013 MB on the market right now. It's really just a color scheme that has never been done before. Has other companies done flake before yes... MB is adding a little flake at a time and this one got the full treatment. So stoked for my bro D Nell to get his new boat and have so much love for it. He's the person that introduced me to MB when I was in the market for a boat and walked away ordering and MB. I think it's awesome to have a ton of stoke when you know NO MB out there looks close to yours. So back to the question

Understand and support that aspect! Would like to see more pics then... Congrats!!
Looks nice. I don't think I've ever even seen an MB on my lake - they just don't have them here (no dealer in this state).
welcome to the MB world of badass boats! i just got my 2013 B53 23 about a month ago.
Looks like it is going to be pretty sick.
Very nice. The cool thing is that once you get done boarding you can head over to the cove and drop a fishing line in the water and fit right in with the bass boats. :D

Love the boat. Nice color scheme. Which motor is that?
It's the 410 indmar
That tower is a huge improvement over last years..... Boat looks great. Very classic interior.
@ SteveW I may not be fishing for bass, but I can guarantee ill be trolling for something, lol.
Right on D Nell, STOKED! Your interior is more like what I would choose, surprised you would go with that much white. I'm going to stash up some Boat Bling interior sauce when I come and get that interior dirty. Can't wait to see how the 410 with the ACME 2079 prop will be. Now let's see that boat unpacked and in the sunshine, or better yet let's get it on the water tomorrow!
Nice - dig the dark grey metallic -- I wanted this for the "X" on my 2012 but it was not available.
I thought that MB always used PCM. When did that change? Do you have a choice?

Hmm. Their website says PCM.
Guessing they are trying to keep their costs down by dropping PCM. Just think 2011-12's prob be more sought after and worth more than the 13's. I think it was not a good move by MB.
Quote:
Why do you say this? I have a '12 and it has the PCM, but have never heard this before. Hope it's true. I had an Indmar in my Axis and had no problems. |
So having a 2012 with the PCM 343 and using a 2013 with the indmar 343. My opinion is that they are both amazing engines! However I do think that the indmar has a bit more torque. It just seamed to get up and go quicker. I can't report on the indmar 410 as of yet, but when I do I'll make sure to wright something about it.
PCM historically has had a better marine package. (Water pump design and mounting methods are two examples) Indmar is no slouch though. I have always preferred PCM, but the Indmar in my new boat has impressed thus far.
I am guessing once MC went to Illmor, Indmar was heavily recruiting boat manufacturers to make up for the lost units. MB might have made the switch for financial reasons, passing the savings onto the customers. This is all speculative though. |
Love it..
Awesome boat!
Hows the bimimi on new tower? Got any pics with it up? |
Not sure about the financials of the switch to Indmar for 13 but I did learn a few things about the switch none of which I can confirm yet. As I understand it one effect of the switch is that the new MB's are much quieter with the dual exhaust. Maybe Josh and Dustin can confirm that.
...?
Something that PCM touts is how much quieter they are than any other brand, my tige is wayyyyyyyy quieter than my buddy's x25 and star both with indmars and is ridiculously more quiet than my friends x25 with ilmor |
(simplej) That has always been my understanding as well.
Just something that I overheard nothing I have confirmed. I think Josh and Dustin could do this pretty easy. From experience my Indmar is way quieter than any of the new Tige's I have been around. Could be just the Tige's I have been around but there is an RZ2 that I could swear had cutouts on it at my lake until I saw another one at a different part of my lake sound exactly the same basically sounded like a cigarette boat. That being said the Nautiques are really quite. Something else that I have read about on the MBOwners site is the resonator and exahaust bypass on the MB's was to help combat this engine volume. I don't remember when this was implemented. There used to be some pics of this on the site but I can not find them right now. |
Yeah I think MB had a good thing going with PCM. I think having a PCM is why many consider buying a tige. Don't the cheaper brands like moomba, axis,Sanger all feature indmar.
Sanger uses Mercruisers, Axis and Mailibu I think are rebranded Indmars, and Supra and Moomba use Indmars.
I really like the new tower
I had an Indmar 340 on My moomba for 4 years and 400 hours. Not a SINGLE issue. I have the Ilmor 5.7 on my X-30 and it has 85 hours and has been absolutley flawless. I will say that the Ilmor is a little louder/meaner sounding but I can honestly say I have noticed it puts out more power then my Indmar did. The Ilmor 5.7 pushes a 4800lb boat with 2500lbs of ballast no problem.
As far as sound I thought the 2013 Indmar was louder than my 12' with the PCM. BUT we need to get both together to really test this! My 12' has a smaller upper hole/vent that I thought was to make it quieter but not sure it really does. Dustin is sure the 13' is quieter compared to his 12' that he just sold. My 12' has the turn down pipe and his 12' had the straight out pipe... Either or I have played with both engines but its hard to compare since the PCM had the Acme 1433 and the Indmar had the Acme 2079 as far as performance.
Thanks Josh I think you covered just about anything I have read or heard in the last few months about all the changes.
mark, yes the marine power tige's are SUPER loud, much like the new ilmor's, maybe even louder
indmar makes a good engine. is it a PCM, no but it would not make or break buying a boat if it had an indmar or pcm... |
I dig it! Tower is headed the right direction. The way it mounts looks killer. above it, eh, still could have some work.
interior looks decent, too many curve with the vinyl though, not a fan of that, looks kinda tacky. |
i think if they changed the curvy s thing between the tubes on the tower to more of an X theme that matches the x on the boat that would be pretty dope. Great looking boat though for sure. Might have to go back to a bunch of flake for next year :)
Great looking boat and I hope that MB continues to keep their boats simple as far as electronics go.
For years we never had a decent MB dealer in North Texas and that always was a concern of mine in regards to service and re-sale. We recent purchased a 2011 Malibu VLX and love it - but if I was in the market again, I'd certainly give the MB and spin and see what I thought. I know that the MB has started to put pressure on the V-ride series to become even more competitve in price. |
Man that is sweeeeeet. Please MB get a deeper freeboard and taller seat basis then it would be the perfect fit for me. Well a perfect fit in about 4 lightly used years haha
Tampa, what do you mean deeper freeboard? Freeboard is the measurement from the waterline to the top of the deck. They have tons of freeboard. I agree with you somewhat on the deeper interior though. They must have the floor raised pretty high to allow the amount of ballast they have which makes the inside somewhat shallow, at least compared to the amount of freeboard.
Trust me I think these boats are great not knocking them at all. I feel like Tige has the best freeboard you just sit down in it like sitting on my couch. Would not keep me from buying one hope this did not come across as a slam. CC also has a more shallow feel to them which is one thing I dont like about them.
I think the 23'ers are about three inches shallower in the interior than a malibu 247 (top of gunnel to floor under seat). The shallow interior was noticeable for me for the first day or two we owned ours and now it feels totally natural. In fact I sorta don't like the deeper interiors anymore because it is like a car with a high beltline... like the windows come up to your neck.
But I totally know what you mean. It does seem weird at first. Sangers are the same way... maybe even a touch lower in the seat base. |
I was tied up to a new Bu 23 at Wake the Lake event in Charlotte back in Sept. in the same 2012 MB 23 that you saw in Tampa, the top deck sides on the MB were 5 inches higher than the Bu, the floor in the Bu may be lower, we played with it and really could not tell much if any difference, after all there is a lot going on under the floor of the MB, 64 gal gas tank and 2300lbs of ballast

D Nell ~ I think it's time for some on the water shots... Come on sunshine!
Attachment 26319 |
Like I say no problem at all with MB these boats are fantastic looking and build quality is top notch from what I have seen. Just felt like I was sitting much closer to the floor than on other boats. Very true lots going on under the deck for sure!!! I know your doing well with the line Drew.
OK Dustin I know you have this boat in your possession now... how about some on the water pics? Or at least some more detailed on the trailer pics!
No trailer pics... Let's get this bad boy in the water! Heal that knee Horton, with the snow flying our season just started...
Ok David! So what's the point of me taking pics in the snow? And dftr you know the winter Crüe is going to kill it this season.
photos with the tower folded down?
does the new tower still fold down below the windshield on the 21? just wondering if it will still fit into a low garage door?
yep the windshield is still the tallest point, but the new ones fold forward over the steering wheel
