What lens on 550d for filming wakeboarding

What kind of lens would you need to film wakeboarding from the boat with a canon 550D ? I now own a 350D with 70-200L and 15-40L and am thinking of buying a 550D.

I was just wondering if you would need something in between the 2 i already have...

The 70-200 is all you need.

Agree.... there isn't anything better than a 70-200.

Well, it depends...I would say that the 70-200 f/2.8 is better than the 70-200 f/4. :-)

You certainly don't need the f2.8 for wakeboarding. The f4 either IS or non-IS is a beautiful lens for wake shots. If you want to shoot indoor sports or lower light stuff, then the f2.8 is very nice. I have an f4 70-200 non IS that is sharp sharp sharp.

I agree with you on this one, but there really is no substitute to the 2.8. I have a Nikon d90 and have shot both an f4 and an f2.8 and have no bad things to say about either, but you really can't get away from the crisp, sharp and versatility of the 2.8. Price is the big factor! Good luck with everything and be sure to post some pictures when you decide what your going to end up doing!

For months I've been debating lens for the 1.6 crop camera (7D for me). I shoot mostly stills but like shooting wakeboarding vids from time to time.

Has anyone used the 24-105 f4 IS?

I'm wondering if the 105mm is enough reach for a rider out 80ft from the boat? The versatility of the 24-105 while on the boat would be great!

I've look at the 70-200 f2.8 but for video I'd never need 2.8 outside shooting wake, it would be impossible to hold focus.
